Perfect familiar.

What does Tasha's say about this? I got Xanathar's instead of Tasha's, still not sure if it was worth it.

Could a person just.. take this and keep it? Would it just function like a dancing longsword or whatever if you befriended it? Or would it be more like a familiar?
slap a glyph of warding with plane shift on this bad boy and you have one hell of a trap
heh.
Is the flying sword a construct or na elemental now? In Keys to the Golden Vault, it is listed as an elemental while 2014 MM says it's a construct. As a construct, I suspect that the mending spell would restore its HP while as an elemental, I'd expect that cure wounds would be more appropriate. Also, what happens to a flying sword when reduced to 0 HP? 17 total HP is not a lot if caught in an area of effect attack. I'd hate for the thing to die. Does it make death saving throws?
It is a construct. The ashen flying sword is a variant that is an elemental. But the standard flying sword is a construct.
The DM can certainly rule that it makes death saving throws.
