Minion. The maelokor thrall is a minion-type monster. Missed attacks, if they deal half damage, instead deal no damage to the maelokor thrall. If the maelokor makes a save on an effect that would deal partial damage on a save, it instead takes no damage. The maelokor thrall always deals the average damage for its attacks. As a minion, the maelokor thrall is worth 1/10 of the XP normal for a monster of it's challenge rating.
Vile Congealation. Each round that ten maelokor thralls are within 50 feet of each other, they have a 10% chance to combine into a single maelokor spawn somewhere in that area.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) slashing damage.
Split (recharges 5-6). The maelokor thrall separates into two maelokor thralls, which are pushed 5 feet apart in the most convenient direction.
Description
One of the first signs of Phoriburyx's malign influence is the appearance of maelokor thralls. These are maelokor generated, not via summoning, but by killing humanoids and performing a dark ritual over the body.
The maelokor thrall is a weak, scraggly monster, appearing as a vaguely-humanoid mass of oily black energy that bubbles and seethes. Here and there, ghoulish lights spring into being, before being swallowed by the black mass.
The maelokor thrall is weak, but it is often a precursor to an invasion. Every so often, a thrall splits, generating an additional thrall. When combined with the ability of lesser maelokor to congeal into more powerful forms, an unchecked thrall infestation can quickly become an army of spawn, conflagrators, or even bacristors.
