Innate Spellcasting. The hag's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 14, +6 to hit with spell attacks). She can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: detect magic, magic missile
2/day each: plane shift (self only), ray of enfeeblement, sleep
Magic Resistance. The hag has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Claws.(Hag Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) slashing damage.
Change Shape. The hag magically polymorphs into a Small or Medium female humanoid, or back into her true form. Her statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment she is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. She reverts to her true form if she dies.
Etherealness. The hag magically enters the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa. To do so, the hag must have a heartstone in her possession.
Nightmare Haunting (1/Day). While on the Ethereal Plane, the hag magically touches a sleeping humanoid on the Material Plane. A protection from evil and good spell cast on the target prevents this contact, as does a magic circle. As long as the contact persists, the target has dreadful visions. If these visions last for at least 1 hour, the target gains no benefit from its rest, and its hit point maximum is reduced by 5 (1d10). If this effect reduces the target's hit point maximum to 0, the target dies, and if the target was evil, its soul is trapped in the hag's soul bag. The reduction to the target's hit point maximum lasts until removed by the greater restoration spell or similar magic.
What school of magic would nightmare haunting be? Are there any races that would be automatically immune to it? I'm running a campaign with a Night Hag as the BBEG, and the nightmare haunting has some plot relevance, so I need to make sure that my players don't choose races that would be immune to it.
Question, would the Night Hag's Nightmare Haunting effect a Kalashtar player character? The Kalashtar race are immune to dream related effects but this just says it is "dreadful visions" given to a sleeping creature and doesn't specifically mention things like the dream spell would
Firstly, it states that a hag must have a heartstone in her possession to enter the Ethereal Plane so they can even use Nightmare Haunting if they aren't already in the Ethereal Plane, which should be rare considering most DMs wouldn't just randomly state that a hag has been following them the whole time in the Ethereal Plane when the party mysteriously dies. Also, I doubt that any reasonable DM would pit level 5 characters against an enemy that could easily wipe them out if they didn't have Greater Restoration. Also, some parties might not have a magic caster with them anyway, so when you think about it the scenario is quite inevitable if they don't have a caster. So no, Hags aren't broken, and if they are, they only are when the party isn't diverse.
As a DM you just shouldn’t be super evil and have the Night Hag use nightmare haunting on the players constantly unless you as the DM create a way to remove the effect.
Why +3 prof bonus but Deception is +7
nocna wiedźma!!! 😭😭😭😭😨😨😨 :((((((
This is just a house rule I have when I d.m night hags but I play that the heart stone is always on the opposite plane of material and ethereal as the next night hag and a player if touching the heart stone can switch the night hag and stones position
