Multiattack. The wyvern makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its stinger. While flying, it can use its claws in place of one other attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) slashing damage.
Stinger. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage. The target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 24 (7d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Description
Cousins to the great dragons, wyverns have two scaly legs, leathery wings, and a sinewy tail topped with a poison stinger that can kill a creature in seconds.
I want a wyvern mount, they are so cool!
is it too overpowered to summon one with find greater steed?
or how about one with much worse stats for find steed?
Nah, more like a sandwing. It has a low intelligence stat so it's probably a lot like blaze.
I need to downsize these attacks for 4 level 2 players
I reccommend either making a new statblock for a young wyvern, having them fight a Wyrmling instead, or fight one with a powerful NPC. You could also have the wyvern be already wounded, with peace being an option.
About how many doses of Wyvern Poison would you be able to harvest from a dead Wyvern? Asking because I want to throw one at my players, and they are VERY resourceful.
Although it is up to your DM, a Wyvern would be much stronger than any other option for Find Greater Steed by a long shot. Perhaps a Dragonnell from Fizban's instead?
Nope
I once slammed a wyvern onto the ground by it's tail (Belt of Giant Strength go Brr) and then used my homebrew race's mimickry trait and the thaumaturgy spell to replicate the roar of an ancient black dragon I had encountered previously. (Thamaturgy to make it louder.) Wyvern got scared shitless by the roar and submitted immediately (Wyverns don't take their chances with dragons, at least not in that campaign)
