Keen Sight. The nothic has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
Multiattack. The nothic makes two claw attacks.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.
Rotting Gaze. The nothic targets one creature it can see within 30 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw against this magic or take 10 (3d6) necrotic damage.
Weird Insight. The nothic targets one creature it can see within 30 feet of it. The target must contest its Charisma (Deception) check against the nothic’s Wisdom (Insight) check. If the nothic wins, it magically learns one fact or secret about the target. The target automatically wins if it is immune to being charmed.
Description
A nothic is a monstrous creature with terrible talons and a single great eye. When driven to violence, it uses its horrific gaze to rot the flesh from its enemies’ bones.
This is my favorite D&D creature I dont know why. I love the lore behind them, about being fallen wizards who lost their way.
Same here
I've modified my nothics to be spell-thieves, it ties in with their lore and makes the party really think about what spells they use in combat.
One time, me and my party ran into a Nothic, and I rolled a nat 20 persuasion roll to make it my friend. It cleared the entire dungeon we were in and he's now my characters best friend. I love this game.
Always watching you wazowski, always watching.
if you keep this thing hidin in a secret area (like a castile, friend house, ext) you can just tell your players to roll deception when they are saying something to that important or truthful and they would get very confused/scared(i didn't come up with this idea)

OUR SAVIOR GOOB
ITS GOOB
In my campaign, Nothics serve as the cursed intelligence squad of my campaign’s “dark forces”. I added the ability for invisibility “at will” - except for their central eye which is always visible when open (eerily “blinking” at its targets from the dark). Their handlers are a trio of ogre magi assassins (who in turn serve a hag coven), who use them to gain intel before executing the perfect kill - any bonus intel goes back to the hags.

the nothic or the community?
YEET
if there was a situation where it was non-combative yet still demented, you could have it share secrets that would cause the party great internal strife.
