Flyby Attack. If atleast 1 attack hits during its turn it can continue flying away without incurring an opportunity attack.
Keen Sight. Advantage on perception checks relying on sight.
Camoflage Ability. Can change its coloration slightly to match its surroundings e.g. changing from its usual coloration (based on habitat) to a darker shade of grey or lighter, in a desert it would be sandy and green for forrests. This gives other creatures disadvantage to spot it while it remains still or if a creature is searching in general i recommend rolling a disadvantage die in secret against this creature instead of giving the player disadvantage.
Multiattack. Makes 2 attacks, but can only use 1 bite per turn. Tail attack requires its full attack action.
Claws. Melee attack: +5 to hit, hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) slashing damage.
Bite. Melee Attack: +5 to hit, Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) half and half piercing/slashing damage.
Tail stab. Melee Attack: +5 to hit, Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) piercing damage. (Optional for specific homebrew: ignores 3 defence)
Description
The Pterofang is a carnivorous creature that is normally seen in flocks of 3-8 and makes a screeching sound accasionally before latching onto a rock or tree and disapearing with its camo. Moderately aggressive.
Tactics! It uses hit and run atleast 50% of the time against targets that are large or smaller and 100% against the biggest and toughest enemys, if a target is medium or small it may attempt to grapple and fly off with it, it especially likes to do this to the smallest targets like a baby creature of a herd or a small character.
Animal Companion. Taming is normally dangerous and too difficult so they are best raised in captivity from eggs. They are capable of companionship and are usually used by hunters and nomads but they aren't a common pet as they require alot of work to raise.
Homebrew Campaign Design: it was meant for a starwars style campaign that uses a little lower hp for PCs and NPCs and uses a defence rating on certain sets of armor. So its attacks may be slightly lower in damage then normal so just double dice or move it from d4-d6 and d6-d8 if you want, but i still recomend using it in any setting homebrew or base game.
