Shapechanger. The mimics can use their action to polymorph into an object or back into their true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form.
Adhesive (Object Form Only). The mimics adhere to anything that touches them. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the mimics are also grappled by it (escape DC 13). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
False Appearance (Object Form Only). While the mimics remain motionless, they are indistinguishable from an ordinary object.
Grappler. The mimics have advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by them.
Swarm. The swarm can occupy another creature's space and vice versa, and the swarm can move through any opening large enough for a coin. The swarm can't regain hit points or gain temporary hit points.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6+2) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) acid damage.
Description
A sub-breed of mimic that disguises itself as currency, thought to have came to being by a wizard trying to guard his wealth. Coin Mimics usually live with other Coin Mimics forming a swarm, or will live near other larger Mimics surviving off their scraps. In this case a swarm has either formed or gathered by someone with the intent to trap a greedy adventurer. The swarm may disguise itself as a pile of gold, a chest full of silver, or even a pouch of coppers, situation dictates. Often swarms will even hide among real coins to lure adventurers in with a false sense of security.
