Shapechanger. The mimic can use its action to polymorph into an object or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Adhesive (Object Form Only). The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Medium or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 11). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.

False Appearance (Object Form Only). While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary object.

Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.

Innate Spellcasting. The mimic's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 11, +3 to hit with spell attacks). The mimic can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: guidance, light (self only), resistance

3/day each: cure wounds, hideous laughter

1/day each: calm emotions, heroism, sanctuary

Actions

Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage. If the mimic is in object form, the target is subjected to its Adhesive trait.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d6 + 1) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) acid damage.

Description

These tiny mimics take on the appearance of dolls and toys to entice children into picking them up.  While this is indeed a part of the mimic's hunting strategy, it is not quite as nefarious as it seems.

Children are know for their vivid imaginations.  A common behavior among the young is treat their toys as living things.  One thing many children do is share snacks and food with their playthings.  In most cases, this merely means touch the treat to the plaything's mouth, and then the child ends up eating the whole thing.

In the case of a toy mimic, the child's "imaginary" friend partakes of such offerings for real.  In exchange, the mimic humors the child, playing with them and acting as a not-so-imaginary friend.  They have even been known to protect children as a family dog might.

If the child is sad, the mimic tries to cheer them.  If the child is hurt, the mimic comforts them.  If the child falls in the mud, the mimic tries to clean them up.  If the child is afraid the dark, the mimic bioluminesces to act as a nightlight.  On the whole, a toy mimic can be a very good thing to have around the house.

Because children are known to say the darnedest things, reports from children about what their toys do, say, or in some cases: eat, are largely totally ignored, answered with a dismissive response along the lines of "that's nice, dear."
