Amphibious. The Kruustazelo can breathe air and water.
False Appearance. While the Kruustazelo is motionless, it is visually indistinguishable from a boulder, requiring a DC 20 Wisdom (Perception) check using either their hearing or smell, (their choice) for a creature to identify it. Alternatively, the creature can feel it, automatically succeeding in distinguishing it, however the Kruustazelo will immediately surprise attack the creature with advantage if it wishes.
Crushing Weight. The Kruustazelo weighs around 370 pounds, and if it were to drop onto a creature, it would have to make a DC 18 Dexterity Saving Throw, taking 55 (10d10) bludgeoning damage and being knocked prone on a failed save, or taking half as much and not being knocked prone on a successful one.
Blind. The Kruustazelo automatically fails ability checks requiring sight, and has advantage on ability checks requiring hearing, feeling, taste or smell. Upon being deafened, the Kruustazelo becomes stunned until the end of it's next turn.
Slam. If the Kruustazelo makes a knock attack after moving at least 20 feet towards it's target, it takes an extra 10 (4d4) bludgeoning damage and must make a DC 14 Strength Saving Throw or become knocked prone.
Multiattack. The Kruustazelo makes one knock attack and one claw attack
Knock. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 10 (3d6) bludgeoning damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 18 (4d8) piercing damage.
Agonizing Crunch (Recharge 4-5-6). Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 44 (8d8 + 8) piercing damage.
Description
"I stepped into the damp cave, a presence loomed within, one hidden and laying in wait. My eyes scanned the cavern, but there were nothing but boulders and stalagmites. Water dripped from one down into a puddle, and the sound echoed throughout. As my ears became trained on that sound, they picked up another, a grinding of sorts. I glanced towards that direction, the boulder there was different from the others, as though it was a creature covered in clay and dirt. I unsheathed my sword and in retaliation, the creature stormed towards me, being fast for it's size. I backed up, and as the gunk ran off of it's body it revealed a crab-like monster, with a smooth back and jagged stone claws. I swung my sword, but to no effect. I attempted to dash to the side, but it managed to cut my arm, effectively unattaching it. Through writhing in pain, I found the power to endure it, and I rushed out of the cave onto the beach, my arm dangling from the elbow." - Vola Iron'elm
Kruustazelos are a vicious crustacean of unwieldly proportion, despite this they correspond in speed to a gnome or halfling. They have a smooth, smoky grey back similar in texture and composition to marble and have a jagged exoskeleton underneath bearing large, jagged claws able to crunch a log in a single clench. They usually dwell within dank caves, which lead their bodies to be clammy and corroded, along with this they are completely blind, relying on other senses to see. After settling in these caves, they will usually excavate them into larger areas with their claws, the preferred size of dwelling is different between each individual Kruustazelo.
- Kruustazelo is an adapted form of the Basque word 'krustazeo', meaning crustacean.
