Traits

Rooted. Vermora Blooms are rooted deep into the soil around them. They cannot take any movement that is not burrowing. When they are uprooted on a DC18 strength check, Vermora Blooms deal 1d8 piercing damage to the uprooter and then die, no matter how many hit points they have left.

Actions

Rolling Clouds. On their turn, the Vermora Blooms can release a gas in a 5ft circle around them. If a creature is caught inside of the gas, the creature takes 1d8 poison damage. On the Blooms' next turn, they can widen the circle by another 5ft. The maximum circle is 20ft radius.

Action Melee Attack. Thorny Branch Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5ft., 1 target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage. On a successful hit, the target is grappled, DC10 Str or Dex to get out.

Reactions

Close Proximity. When a creature ends their turn within 10ft of the Bloom, it must succeed a Constitution saving throw (DC13), otherwise the Bloom releases noxious vermillion gas and the creature takes 2d8 Poison damage. If other Blooms are within 10ft of a creature on the end of their turn, the DC goes up by 1 and 1d8 is added to damage for every additional Bloom.

Description

Commonly found in bundles of three, the Vermora Blooms are tumbleweed-like bushes, with thorny purple branches wrapped around each other like a sphere. In the middle of the jagged cage are bright red flowers that seem to throb with breath. These red flowers exhale thick vermillion gas known as the Vermora Plague.

The Blooms were manufactured by the Maralith Queen of Vulcan: Xenajeva. In her conquest to take over the continent of Lunakoi, Xenajeva bred these plants in the heart of the Black Volcano.
