Easily break the leg of a trex: If a creature is on the ground and of the size huge or larger and the ankylosaur hits it with a tail attack this attack counts as a crit. If the roll is also a natural 20 one of their legs is broken if the creature is huge and has legs.
Soft underside: if ankylosaur is flipped over or being attacked from below by a tiny creature its AC decreases by 5(10) and walking tank can be ignored. Other ways at getting to the soft underside are at DMs discretion.
Evolved for Protection: If the ankylosaur holds its action to attack a creature when the creature comes into reach of its tail attack the ankylosaurus has advantage on the attack.
Walking tank: It has resistance to slashing and piercing damage from non magical attacks. (NOT BLUDGEONING that doesn't make sense)
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (4d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone, if they are medium or smaller they are pushed 15 feet away in a direction the ankylosaur chooses.
Defensive Stance: As a bonus action the ankylosaur can choose to set its movement to 0 and give itself disadvantage on attacks in order to give creatures disadvantage on attacks against it and itself advantage on constitution saving throws. All of which ends at the end of its next turn (for one round).
this refuses to stop being bolded I don't know why
Description
Thick armor plating covers the body of the plant-eating dinosaur ankylosaurus, which defends itself against predators with a knobbed tail that delivers a devastating strike.
I like dinosaurs and kinda feel like they get shafted in the official stats. Ankylosaurus evolved to protect itself from large predators very well and its abilities and stats should reflect that.
This probably isn't very like great in terms of quality of DND design but whatever these tanks deserved cool stuff.
(the logic behind the break the leg thing is smaller creatures go flying when it hits them taking away from the force of the impact but big creatures can't give as they weigh to much which is why ankylosaurus is famous for being able to break a t rex's leg)
(the logic behind soft underside only including tiny creatures is ankylosaurs stomachs were very close to the ground so small creatures(halflings) could not reach under there easily)
