Description
The Dracken is designed to be a guard for a treasure hoard or vault. Once put in place, it is best to avoid going through its lair, even by the person that placed it in its new home. The Dracken is extremely territorial and does not appreciate anyone encroaching upon its area. Along with this, it was designed to be able to hibernate for over a decade without being fed or maintained while it awaited for another meal to wander towards it.
Drackens are born for the fight, and care for little else. A meal is a side benefit, and treasure and anything else is secondary to them. The only creatures that Drackens are friendly towards and refuse to eat are chickens, and so it is not uncommon to try and swarm it with chickens before moving through the room that it occupies.
Lair and Lair Actions
Drackens prefer lairs that are tall, cylindrical rooms. Preferably around 60' wide and 100' tall. Along the sides of the wall are platforms will allow it to rise upwards and rain steel from above. These platforms can also be operated with some control by adventurers, taking the battle to new heights.
Lair Actions
The Dracken may take 3 lair actions, which are outlined below. Only one lair action may be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Dracken regains all spent lair actions at the start of the initiative order.
- Activate lift: If standing within 5' of a lift, the Dracken may got onto the lift and activate it. Doing so will raise it 50' into the air.
- Bite: The Dracken may use the Bit action.
- Release the Chickens: The Dracken calls two chickens into the room, which immediately come through small hatches in the walls and attack the adventurers (1/turn)
