Traits

Plant Camouflage. The wight has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks it makes in any terrain with ample obscuring vegetation.

Regeneration. The wight regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it is in contact with Gulthias Tree corrupted vines. If it takes fire damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of its next turn. The wight dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn’t regenerate.

Tree Stride. Once on each of its turns, the wight can use 10 feet of its movement to step magically into one tree infested with Gulthias Tree corrupted vines within 5 feet of it and emerge from a second tree infested with corrupted vines within 60 feet of it, appearing in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the second cluster. Both trees must be Large or bigger.

Unusual Nature. The wight doesn’t require air, food, drink, or sleep.

Actions

Multiattack. The wight makes two attacks, with any combination of Infested Claw and/or Arcane Needles.

Infested Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or the attack leaves behind leeching vines, which reduce the target's hit point maximum by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if its hit point maximum is reduced to 0.

A creature slain by this attack rises 24 hours later as a twig blightvine blight, or needle blight under the Gulthias Tree's control, unless the creature is restored to life or its body is destroyed.

Arcane Needles. Ranged Spell Attack: +5 to hit, range 60 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d8 + 3) force damage.

Spellcasting. The wight casts one of the following spells, using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 13):

At will: detect magic, druidcraft, mage armor

1/day each: enemies abound, wither and bloom (using 1d8 for the healing effect)

Description

The vine wight is a mage subsumed and corrupted by the Gulthias tree, that uses the echos of its talents from life to defend and nurture the tree's growth across the land.
