Amorphous. The glue can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.

Adhesive. The glue adheres to anything that touches it. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the glue is also grappled by it (escape DC 15). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.

Grappler. The glue has advantage on attack rolls against creatures grappled by it.

Solvent Weakness. Dripping any amount of universal solvent on the glue causes it to evaporate into harmless smoke, killing it instantly.

Actions

Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage, and the target is adhered to the glue.

Glob. Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, ranged 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage, and the target must make a DC 15 Strength saving throw or become restrained. They or another creature must use an action to attempt to free them by rolling a DC 15 Strength (Athletics) check.

Bonus Actions

Reel. The glue pulls a Small or smaller object adhered to it into itself, enveloping the object. That object becomes unretrievable until the glue is destroyed. If it’s being held by a creature, that creature can choose to make a DC 15 Strength saving throw to prevent the object from being pulled in. However, if they fail, they become adhered if they aren’t already.

Reactions

Magic Eater. When the glue becomes affected by a spell, it can cause that spell to fail for it. It then splits into two Medium glues with identical statistics but that each have half of this glue’s hit points and both lack this reaction. Any creature adhered to this glue becomes adhered instead by the nearer of the two new glues.

Description

The azure glue was a failed experiment on sovereign glue that, reportedly, was meant to hold in place the very souls of extraplanar beings, making it impossible for them to be reborn on their home planes after death. However, the experiment failed, creating a magical ooze that rampages through a sealed set of rooms in the Candlekeep catacombs. One intrepid survivor that returned after venturing forth with his party reported, however:

”I thought you said there was only one. You sons of hellhounds, there must be dozens!”

(Further testimony omitted for brevity and relevance.)

Some scholars theorize that it has multiplied by feeding off of the ambient magic of Candlekeep’s wards. Further investigation required.
