Traits

Shapechanger. The Christmas Tree Mimic can use its action to polymorph into a perfect replica of a Large-sized Christmas tree or return to its true form.

False Appearance. While the Christmas Tree Mimic remains motionless and indistinguishable from an ordinary Christmas tree, it is indistinguishable from a normal tree.

Ambusher. The Christmas Tree Mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature it has surprised.

Actions

Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If the target is Medium or smaller, it is grappled (escape DC 14).

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (4d8 + 4) piercing damage.

Adhesive Tendril. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 30 ft., one target. Hit: The target is restrained. A creature can use its action to make a DC 14 Strength check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach on a success. The tendril can also be attacked and destroyed (AC 12; hp 20; vulnerability to fire damage; immunity to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage).

Reactions

Mimicry. When a creature other than the Christmas Tree Mimic hits it with a melee attack, the Christmas Tree Mimic can use its reaction to animate an ornament on its body, causing the attack to strike the ornament instead. The ornament has an AC of 15 and 10 hit points. If the ornament is destroyed, the Christmas Tree Mimic takes no damage from the attack.

Description

The Christmas Tree Mimic appears as an enchanting holiday tree, adorned with sparkling lights and festive ornaments. Unbeknownst to those who approach, this mimic lures its victims with the promise of seasonal joy before revealing its true, sinister nature. The branches of this mimic lash out with surprising speed and strength, ensnaring its prey in a tangle of pseudopods. Beware the seemingly innocent Christmas tree, for it may be a mimic in disguise, ready to strike when least expected.
