Description
-
The Vinturong is a large, sturdy creature with a body combining a binturong's muscular build and a vulture's expansive wings. It stands about 8 feet tall with a wingspan of 18 feet. The Vinturong has the distinctive, bald head of a cinereous vulture, complete with a sharp, hooked beak and piercing eyes. The head is mounted on a strong, flexible neck, reminiscent of the binturong’s, allowing for a wide range of movement. Its wings are large and feathered like those of a cinereous vulture but with a mix of dark, shaggy feathers and the dense fur of a binturong. The feathers are dark brown and black, with hints of grey and white. The forelimbs blend the binturong’s dexterous, grasping claws and the vulture’s powerful talons. The hind limbs are strong, with a combination of clawed feet and sturdy legs that support its weight on land. Like a binturong's, the tail is long and prehensile and is covered in dark, coarse fur. It helps with balance and maneuvering in flight. The Vinturong has a dark, mottled coloration, with a mix of black, brown, and grey feathers and fur, providing effective camouflage in its natural environment.
