Traits

Eclipse Aura
A 30-foot radius around the Voidscale Wyrm is swallowed by darkness. Light sources within this aura produce only dim light. Creatures within the aura have disadvantage on Perception checks that rely on sight, and any Wisdom (Perception) checks made to detect the Wyrm are made at disadvantage. Any creature that attacks at range or with spells is done at a disadvantage.
Devour the Sun
Whenever the Voidscale Wyrm makes an Intelligence (Arcana) check to understand ancient magic, it may cast *Dispel Magic* at 4th level on any magical light sources within a 60-foot radius of its location. The wyrm regains an amount of hit points equal to twice the level of the spell dispelled.
Void Stare
Once per short rest, the Voidscale Wyrm can target one creature it can see within 120 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Charisma saving throw or be blinded for 1 minute. While blinded in this way, the target experiences vivid hallucinations of being trapped in the vast emptiness of the void. The target can reconnect to reality with a subsequent save at the end of each of its turns.
Actions
Multiattack
The Voidscale Wyrm makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its tail.
Bite
Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d10 + 5) piercing damage plus 10 (3d6) necrotic damage.
Tail
Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d12 + 5) bludgeoning damage.
Void Breath (Recharge 5-6)
The Wyrm exhales a beam of pure void energy in a 60-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw, taking 54 (12d8) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. A creature reduced to 0 hit points by this breath weapon immediately crumbles into black ash, which is scattered to the wind.
Wing Burst
Each creature within 20 feet of the Voidscale Wyrm must succeed on a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw or take 18 (4d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The Wyrm may then move up to half its flying speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
Bonus Actions
Nature's Veil
The Voidscale Wyrm can meld into the natural surroundings, becoming invisible while in areas of natural vegetation. It can choose to become visible as a bonus action.

Legendary Actions
Shadow Step
The Voidscale Wyrm teleports to an unoccupied space it can see within 60 feet, causing the space it leaves behind to temporarily collapse into a swirling vortex of dark energy. Each creature within 10 feet of the space it left must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or take 14 (4d6) psychic damage.
Darkened Strike
The Wyrm makes one bite or tail attack and imposes disadvantage on any attack rolls made against it until the start of its next turn.

Description

Description: The Voidscale Wyrm exists at the twilight boundary between worlds, its form seemingly half-fused with the nothingness it calls home. Where other dragons exude power through sheer presence, the Voidscale draws the world's silence to itself, stealing light and sound alike. Its scales are a shifting haze of obsidian and violet, constantly rippling like an echoing void. Its serpentine body moves with unnatural grace given its immense size, and its wings spread wide to blot out the sun, causing unnatural eclipses wherever it flies. Its breath carries the emptiness of the void itself, a darkness that consumes both body and soul with neither fire nor frost.

Lore: Legends of the Voidscale Wyrm echo throughout forgotten libraries in whispers and cryptic notes, linking it to the endless, lightless expanse of the Supernatural Realm of Eternal Night. A domain untethered by time or space, this realm slowly consumes curious travelers, attuned only to those who thrive in darkness. Loremasters believe that the Voidscale Wyrm was once a draconic guardian of light but became corrupted by the very opposite force it was created to guard against. Now bound to the shadows, it roams seeking to devour any who carry a glimmer, no matter how faint.
