Description

A hulking, shadowy figure, the Achluophobic Horror is a manifestation of the fear of darkness. Its body is cloaked in a perpetual shadow, and its eyes glow with an eerie, otherworldly light. It lurks in the shadows, waiting for its prey to wander too close before emerging to strike with blinding speed.

Additional Notes

  • The Achluophobic Horror is particularly vulnerable to light. It takes double damage from any source of light.
  • The horror can also be damaged by holy water or blessed weapons.
  • The Achluophobic Horror is drawn to places of darkness and solitude, such as abandoned buildings, caves, and forests.

Lair and Lair Actions

The Achluophobic Horror's lair is a dilapidated, once-grand building that has been abandoned for decades. The exterior is crumbling and overgrown with vines, and the windows are boarded up. Inside, the building is dark and dusty, with broken furniture and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling.

The horror lurks in the shadows, waiting for its prey to wander into the building. It has set up a series of traps, including:

  • Pitfalls: The horror has dug deep pits in the floor, covered with loose boards or debris. Creatures that step on the boards or debris may fall into the pits.
  • Tripwires: The horror has strung tripwires across the floor, which will trigger loud alarms or release clouds of darkness.
  • Hidden compartments: The horror has created hidden compartments in the walls and ceiling, where it can store food and other supplies.

The lair also contains a small chamber where the horror sleeps and rests. The chamber is lined with soft, dark materials, and the air is thick with the scent of decay.
