Speedroll: Once every other turn, they can forgo an attack to increase their speed to 40

Keening Wail: Once every other turn, the Vernislath can emit a keening screech. Any creature caught within a 15 ft cone must make a Dex saving throw. Failure causes the victim to suffer the dazed effect. Vernislath must be stopped to use attack.

Stench: Any creature that passes through the habitat of the Vernislath must roll a Con saving throw. Failure causes the victim to retch for 1 round  and become nauseated for 5 rounds. This effect inflicts a -1 penalty to any physical action / test.

Trip: Once per turn the Vernislath can forego claw or bite attacks and instead try to trip their victim. The victim must have moved on their last turn for this to work or actively trying to move/flee.  On a successful attack roll, the victim must roll a Dex saving throw at -2 difficulty. Failure inflicts the victim with the prone condition and provides attackers advantage to attack rolls until the victim's next turn.

Description

The vernislath is a spherical terror. It is covered in smooth amethyst scales, has four arms with 3 clawed fingers on each. It moves by rolling and is quite adept and speed and maneuverability. It is able to launch itself up to 5 ft in the air. It has a vicious maw of serrated teeth. It lives in dark caverns and tunnels. The vernislath has no eyes or ears and as such cannot be blinded or deafened. The hunt by smell and by vibrations. Their scales transmit even the smallest vibration allowing for them to home in on their targets quite efficiently. To aid in this, their scale produce a fine elastic coating, similar to spiderwebs. The coating enhances the vibrations, again similar to a spider's web. The coating also emanates a strong ammonia like smell. This interacts with any non-vernislath creatures scent allowing to differentiate others of their kind and their prey. Lastly they also possess a keening screech which they use to frighten and daze their prey.
