Posted May 12, 2025Pounce trait of the old one is now worked into the Claw attack, just like anything else that had a similar trait. However, it used to be a DC 13 strength save against prone, whereas now it just automatically does prone. Allosaurus went from save against big damage to just big damage. It's clear how the statblock wants you to run them. Also, to all the moon druids, automatic prone inflictors are great. Use them to your advantage, because this Allosaurus is buffed.

Posted Jun 19, 2025Your designers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, the didn't stop to think if they should.

Posted Oct 20, 2025Considering that this is a CR 2 creature and hippos are CR 4, that's the way it should be. What's your point?

Posted Oct 20, 2025Yes. A dinosaur, an ogre- Thats all weaker than a hippo. That isnt how it should be!

Posted Oct 20, 2025OK, you're saying that a dinosaur and an ogre shouldn't be tougher than a hippo. But consider this, hippos (full sized, not the pygmy hippos) are 5 ton animals that are over ten feet long, can move 30 mph on land, have powerful jaws, and dagger like teeth, have a very bad aggressive attitude, and, aside from other humans, kill the most people per year in Africa. I think you may be underestimating how deadly hippos are in real life. If I were making a bet, I would definitely take the hippo in a one on one fight versus an ogre. As for the Allosaurus, many people don't realize they aren't really that big as far as dinosaurs go. Not nearly the size of a T-Rex which are commonly (but incorrectly) considered to be similar to an Allosaurus. One on one fight, I'm betting on the hippo.
BTW, did you watch Land of the Lost when you were younger?
EDIT: Slight correction. Dagger like teeth is incorrect. Long sword like teeth would be more accurate.
