Posted Feb 4, 2025Does the Giant Eagle being Celestial mean a Druid can't Wildshape into them anymore? Because that stinks. :(
This was a really great Wildshape for carrying party members and being useful in aerial combat.

Posted Feb 4, 2025Not just Wildshape. That rules out spells like Polymorph too.
The Giant Elk and Giant Owl are classed Celestial too now.

Posted Feb 9, 2025Why is the image of this monster not found in the actual Monster Manual, but only on this specific page?

Posted Feb 11, 2025Because it doesn't have art in the Monster Manual, this is using the art from the 2014 MM.

Posted Aug 29, 2025Change to Celestial would actually make them close to Eagles from The Lord of the Rings.
And I don't mind that. ☺

Posted Dec 2, 2025ust in case you hadn't yet had a chance to check out the official video for Celestials in 2024 edition, here's the link: https://youtu.be/k6_E8m-FSco
But if you're somehow unable to watch the video for yourself, the tl;dr: is that they made the change due to lore reasons; they wanted to make it clear that the giant animals were sapent, intelligent creatures compared to their normal counterparts. In addition, they wanted to provide a mechanical connection to their lore of being associated with the Beastlands and other Celestials.

Posted Jan 30, 2026Thank you for clarifying that. How about so many other giant beasts, though? For example giant spider.
