Traits

Agile Jumper. The yuking can long jump or high jump up to 30 feet without a running start.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The yuking has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) attacks based on hearing or smell.

Ice Walk. The yuking can move across and climb icy surfaces without needing to make an ability check. Additionally, Difficult Terrain composed of ice or snow doesn’t cost it extra movement.

Magic Resistance. The yuking has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Magic Weapons. The yuking's attacks are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity.

Unflinching. The yuking has advantage against D20 Tests which would cause it to be knocked prone, be moved against its will, or affect its movement.

Actions

Multiattack. The yuking makes three attacks with its Dragon Staff or Stone Battery.

Dragon Staff. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 19 (3d8 + 6) force damage and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or fall Prone.

Stone Battery. Ranged Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, range 60 ft., 1 target. Hit: 16 (4d4 + 6) bludgeoning damage.

Bonus Actions

Extend Staff. The yuking's Dragon Staff attacks have a range of up to 20 feet until the yuking takes this bonus action again.

Pole Vault. The yuking immediately jumps up to 20 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.

Shape-Shift. The doppelganger shape-shifts into a Medium or Small Humanoid, or it returns to its true form. Its game statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn’t transformed.

Reactions

Vicious Ridicule. Trigger. A hostile creature within 30 feet of the yuking which can hear it fails a D20 Test. Response. The creature subtracts a d6 from the next four D20 Tests it makes.

Description

While many mistake the mighty Yuking for the even mightier Wukong, they are not one in the same. The Yuking is merely a mischievous impersonator, taking inspiration from the Monkey King with his tricks and abilities. In reality, the Yuking is a minor-level celestial being which represents joy and revelry in the face of harsh conditions, which is why it makes its home in the most dangerous of conditions, the frigid north. While the Yuking is prideful and will not ignore a major insult, one can garner its respect by performing a devious prank or telling it a truly hilarious joke.

Lair and Lair Actions

The yuking resides within an old, forgotten shrine high up in a cave in the snowy mountains. In its shrine, it stands vigil as a stone statue with calm eyes and a mocking grin. Icicles hang precariously from the ceiling, daring intruders to make too much noise.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 10 (losing initiative ties), the yuking takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the yuking can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • A cloud of swirling ice and dust forms in 20-foot radius sphere somewhere in the lair. The area is Heavily Obscured to all creatures but the yuking and any creature which is not the yuking within the cloud has their speed halved from the cold. In addition, when the cloud forms, the yuking can choose to teleport into the center of the cloud.
  • Massive icicles come crashing down from the ceiling and form a wall somewhere within the lair. This effect is identical to the Wall of Ice spell but deals no damage.
  • The yuking immediately shape-shifts into another creature within the lair and trades places with it. A creature must succeed on a successful Wisdom (Insight) check, DC 17, to determine which creature is real or false.
