Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Yrsaa’s Hollowing Curse fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Hollowing Aura. Any creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of Yrsaa must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or suffer the Hollowing Curse. On a failed save, the creature takes 21 (6d6) psychic damage and gains one level of exhaustion. A creature that succeeds on this saving throw is immune to the aura for 24 hours. A creature with a level of exhaustion caused by the Hollowing Curse cannot recover from exhaustion until it leaves the aura.

Stoneform. Yrsaa is composed of living stone and elemental earth. It can merge with stone or earth, becoming incorporeal while moving through it. It cannot be hit by nonmagical attacks while within solid rock or earth.

Hollow Mind. Yrsaa’s mind is a swirling void of hunger and malice. Any creature that tries to communicate telepathically or mind-read Yrsaa must succeed on a DC 18 Intelligence saving throw or suffer 22 (5d8) psychic damage and become stunned until the end of its next turn.

Actions

Multiattack. Yrsaa makes three attacks: one with Stone Slam, one with Hollowing Claw, and one with Mind Warp.

Stone Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 30 (4d10 + 7) bludgeoning damage.

Hollowing Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 25 (4d8 + 7) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or gain one level of exhaustion due to the Hollow Curse.

Mind Warp (Recharge 5–6). Yrsaa forces a target within 60 feet to relive a painful moment of its deepest fears, breaking its mind. The target must make a DC 19 Intelligence saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 40 (9d8) psychic damage and is stunned for 1 minute. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage and is not stunned. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Quake Strike (Recharge 5-6). Yrsaa slams the ground with its stone fist, causing a localized earthquake. All creatures within 30 feet of Yrsaa must succeed on a DC 20 Strength saving throw or fall prone and take 28 (8d6) bludgeoning damage. Buildings or structures within the area of effect may also take damage depending on their construction.

Legendary Actions

Yrsaa can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Yrsaa regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

  • Stone Step. Yrsaa moves up to 30 feet through solid stone or earth, without provoking opportunity attacks.

  • Hollow Call (Costs 2 Actions). Yrsaa summons 1d4 Hollowed Miners (use the stats for zombies, but they are resistant to all damage types except bludgeoning and necrotic).

  • Psychic Scream (Costs 3 Actions). Yrsaa lets out a wave of psychic energy in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or take 32 (9d6) psychic damage and become frightened for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Mythic Actions

If Yrsaa is reduced to 0 hit points, it will reconstitute itself within 1d6 hours as long as its Hollowing Curse is not purged. The Curse will begin to spread through the surrounding land, making it more dangerous for any who linger. Additionally, the region where Yrsaa died may be affected by Earthquakes, Corruption, and Manifestations of Stoneborn if not sealed properly. IF APPLICABLE

Lair and Lair Actions

The Hollow Tomb: The area around Yrsaa’s resting place (the final chamber in the mines) is filled with Earth’s Hunger. While in this area, the environment itself grows unstable, and terrain may change randomly, with rock formations rising and falling, traps being set, and air thickening with the oppressive weight of the curse. This effect makes spellcasting and movement through the area challenging, as difficult terrain is constantly shifting.
