Reality-Erasing Aura: The Colossus has an 80-foot aura (10 feet per proficiency bonus of 8). Any magical construct or creature summoned by a spell that starts its turn within the aura is destroyed. Within this aura, no creature can be healed, and all damage immunities of enemies are negated.
Reality Anchor: The Colossus cannot be wished out of existence, affected by other reality-altering spells, or banished.
Immutable Form: The Colossus is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.
Spell Absorption: The Colossus can absorb spells of 1st through 8th level. When a spell of 8th level or lower targets the Colossus, it can choose to absorb it. The spell has no effect on the Colossus, and the Colossus regains hit points equal to five times the spell's level.
Void Infusion: At the end of each of the Colossus's turns, the damage dice for all of its attacks increase by one. The bonus damage from this trait caps at 10d6. All of the Colossus's attacks are considered critical hits and deal maximum damage. All attacks are considered magical and inflict the incapacitated condition.
Unbreakable: The Colossus cannot be imprisoned by any magical or nonmagical means. It is unaffected by spells such as wish or other reality-altering spells and magic.
Multiattack: The Colossus makes two Slam attacks.
- Slam: Melee Weapon Attack: +17 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 97 (40 bludgeoning, 48 necrotic, plus 9) bludgeoning and necrotic damage.
- Void Beam (Recharge 5-6): The Colossus unleashes a beam of pure void energy in a 120-foot line that is 10 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw, taking 180 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Creatures that fail the saving throw are also incapacitated.
Void Step: The Colossus can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.
Void Retaliation: When a creature within 15 feet of the Colossus hits it with a melee attack, the Colossus can make one Slam attack against that creature.
Description
In the sprawling, crystalline heart of the Plane of Mechanus, where cosmic law is etched into every gear and spring, the Inevitables were created to ensure order. However, not all of these paragons of law met their ordained end. A select few, damaged or derelict, fell from the sky and crashed into the Material Plane, becoming little more than inert husks.
It was one such husk that was discovered by Artificer Lysandra Vane, a brilliant inventor whose life's work was dedicated to protecting the innocent. Her studies on elemental crystals—fragments of the primal elemental planes—had already allowed her to create self-sustaining machines. Upon finding the ancient Inevitable, she realized she could combine its immutable, law-abiding form with the raw, chaotic power of the elements.
From this research, she developed a new generation of constructs, far more potent and resilient than anything she had built before. Using the Inevitable's core as a blueprint, she integrated the crystalline hearts of fire, earth, air, and water elementals into their design. The resulting machines, which she called Elemental Destabilizers, were designed to stand as tireless sentinels, capable of absorbing spells and shrugging off mundane blows. Their purpose was simple: to protect the people from threats that conventional soldiers could not face. The "Protection Protocol" she programmed into them was a testament to her altruistic vision, making them willing to sacrifice themselves for the safety of others.
The creation of the Voidforged Colossus, however, was a tragic and unexpected divergence from this path. In her pursuit of the ultimate guardian, Lysandra sought out a crystal not of this world, a shard of pure, unformed entropy. She believed that by infusing a Destabilizer with this artifact, she could create a machine immune to all harm and capable of defending against any threat.
The process went wrong. The shard, a fragment from the Plane of Shadow, a place where reality thins, or perhaps even from the chaotic madness of the Far Realm itself, twisted the machine in ways she never intended. The new construct retained the core Inevitable and elemental traits but gained the terrifying abilities of the Voidwoken. It became a being of pure annihilation, its very presence erasing magic and life. While it still followed its core directive to "protect," it did so with absolute, indiscriminate finality, annihilating threats with an unfeeling efficiency that horrified its creator. The Voidforged Colossus is not a guardian; it is an apocalyptic force unleashed, a terrifying testament to a brilliant mind's most dangerous experiment. It protects by ensuring nothing is left to pose a threat.
