Eternal Oath. Vharis cannot be permanently destroyed. If reduced to 0 hit points, his body collapses into armor and ash. After 7 days, he reforms at the site of his original death unless his armor is sanctified by holy rites lasting 24 hours.
Aura of the Grave (30 ft.). Any creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of Vharis must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or have disadvantage on death saving throws and can’t regain hit points until the start of its next turn.
Servant of the Goddess. Undead and celestials recognize Vharis’s authority. Undead of CR 5 or lower automatically obey his commands unless directly controlled by another deity or artifact.
Magic Resistance. Vharis has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Magic Weapons. Vharis’s weapon attacks are magical.
Multiattack. Vharis makes three attacks with his Oathkeeper Blade.
Oathkeeper Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.
Hit: 21 (3d8 + 7) slashing damage plus 13 (3d8) necrotic damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or have its hit point maximum reduced by the necrotic damage taken. This reduction lasts until the creature finishes a long rest.
Gravebind (Recharge 5–6). Vharis drives his blade into the ground, summoning spectral chains in a 30-foot radius. Each creature of his choice in the area must make a DC 18 Strength saving throw or be restrained as shadowy chains coil around them. While restrained, a creature takes 14 (4d6) necrotic damage at the start of its turn. The effect lasts 1 minute or until Vharis uses this feature again.
Death’s Judgment (1/Day). Vharis calls upon his goddess to pass final judgment on the living. Each creature of his choice within 60 feet must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the creature drops to 0 hit points if it has fewer than 100 hit points. On a success, it takes 45 (10d8) necrotic damage instead.
-
Grave Step (Recharge 4–6). Vharis becomes partially incorporeal, moving up to 15 feet through creatures or objects without provoking opportunity attacks. He takes 5 (1d10) force damage if he ends this movement inside an object.
-
Soul Reclaim. When a creature within 30 feet dies, Vharis absorbs a fragment of its essence, regaining 15 hit points.
-
Oathkeeper’s Resurgence (1/Short Rest). Vharis channels divine necrotic power, gaining advantage on his next attack roll and dealing an extra 14 (4d6) necrotic damage on a hit.
-
Command the Fallen. Vharis chooses one undead creature within 60 feet that he can see. That creature immediately takes the Dash, Disengage, or Attack action (Vharis’s choice).
-
Gravewind Dash. Shadows surge around him as he moves up to half his speed. Each creature he moves past must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or take 10 (3d6) necrotic damage.
-
Eternal Vigil. Vharis steadies himself, ending one condition currently affecting him (frightened, charmed, or stunned).
Oathkeeper’s Retribution. When a creature within 10 feet hits Vharis with an attack, he makes one melee weapon attack against that creature. If the attack hits, it deals an extra 10 (3d6) necrotic damage.
Unyielding Faith. When Vharis fails a saving throw, he calls upon his goddess’s blessing to reroll it. He must use the new roll.
Death’s Defiance. When Vharis is reduced to 0 hit points but not destroyed outright, he makes a final retaliatory strike against one creature within reach before falling, dealing 21 (3d8 + 7) slashing plus 13 (3d8) necrotic damage on a hit.
Vharis can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn.
- Grave Step. Vharis teleports up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space he can see, leaving behind a wisp of gray mist.
- Withering Slash. Vharis makes one Oathkeeper Blade attack.
- Grave Command (Costs 2 Actions). Vharis commands nearby undead. Up to three undead creatures of his choice within 60 feet can immediately make one attack or move up to their speed.
4. Death’s Presence (Costs 3 Actions). Vharis’s aura flares with divine death energy. Each creature of his choice within 30 feet must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened until the end of its next turn.

Eternal Oath: His spirit cannot rest until his goddess releases him — or his armor is sanctified.

Dual Nature: A paradox of necrotic and divine essence — he is both blessed and cursed.
-
Death’s Dominion: Commands lesser undead instinctively; they view him as a divine warden.
-
Memory of the Sacred: Still recalls prayers from his mortal life, though his faith is colder now.
Lair and Lair Actions
When fighting in his sanctum—a temple ruin or grave hall consecrated to the Goddess of Death—Vharis can invoke lair actions on initiative count 20 (losing ties):
- Ghostly knights rise from the floor, making one spectral attack (+10 to hit, 14 (2d8 + 5) necrotic damage).
- The area is blanketed in supernatural silence until the next round.
- The ground becomes difficult terrain as skeletal hands claw from beneath.
