Custom Items on the DDB character sheet have gotten a few updates, Huzzah!
We are super excited to announce that Custom Items can now be moved into containers in your character’s inventory!
Also, when creating a Custom Item for you character, you will now be able to use a form that lets you add a name and other details of the Custom Item you are creating and the ability to add it directly to any container in the characters inventory.
You can try this out by clicking on the Manage Inventory button or the name of any Container on your character and access the Add Custom Item form inside the Add Items section. Click the Add Item button when you are ready to add it to a container!
- Manage Inventory > Add Custom Item
- Bag of Holding > Add Items > Add Custom Item
We want to hear your feedback! The best way to give it to us is through our Inventory Management/Sharing Portal.
Excellent quality of life change! I'm also glad I can properly sort them into containers now, that was kinda bothering me lol
Looking forward to this! Thank you! :)
I'm really excited by this. I love making custom items for the characters that simply must pick up everything they find.
I look forward to when the cost and weight overrides get updated to support costs less than 1 gold and weights less than a whole pound.
Finally! Let's celebrate!
Not sure if this is a bug. The custom items can’t have fractional values to represent silver and copper. A normal item can have custom value of 0.01 for a 1 cp item. A custom item won’t accept any value with a decimal. This is true if it is in a container or not.
Awesome 😁
I think the weapons section of this could use a bit of work. I tried making a scythe and it kept adding the attack under other with sneak attack rather than with my weapons and spells under actions.
What i'd like to see is the ability to change critical multipliers, reach range, finesse options, martial arts options, and weight as well as one handed or 2 handed.
The function that i need to make the scythe for the campaign was a 10ft reach, finesse weapon, 2 handed, light property. It had to include 1 enchantment, a x4 critical multiplier and 2d8 damage according to the dm, this was a pain to do and then implementing it as an item with an action was even more so difficult.
So not to judge as to having a 2 handed but also light property weapon but to be more relevant to your request: theyre working on allowing the creation of 'mundane' weapons and other items. At the moment you can only make 'magic items' although theres nothing stopping you from making it using the 'magic item builder' and just giving it any magic bonuses.
I haven't attempted it yet but changing a weapon's property shouldn't be an issue. just go to Add modifier > property > suboption. it may be slightly different for reach property but more or less is there if you have time to experiment. THAT BEING SAID, some properties work properly with the character sheet and some don't. Some are bugs that theyre working on. (if the 2d8 is extra damage, that can be easy to add. If it's the base weapon damage, I don't think you can do that. Best I can suggest is use a chassis of a 1d8 weapon like an axe and then just add bonus>damage 1d8)
Lastly, depending on what the enchanment is, you can also add it in using modifiers but there is no '4x multiplyer' in 5e. At best, we have things like brutal critical or some monster stats which is just 'add 1 (or more) extra dice on a crit' which honestly, isn't really a modifier since Crits aren't really its innate damage and you'd just add it in the description and remember that whenever you actually trigger a crit. (this would apply if you actually mean expanding crit range too like with the champion fighter - theres really nothing to show in the character sheet so it's something you'd need to do 'manually')
i dont get what you happy about
brill
I am so exited now I have seen it its so amazing
I just really wish there was either a communal inventory or intra-party item trading. It's easy enough to delete and add a few simple items, but when they're custom items (or, worse, artificer infusions), it gets annoying pretty fast. As the artificer, I have to keep a copy of the item to infuse it (which throws off my weight count) and tell the other person how to custom make it in their inventory anyway, not to mention making sure they delete it and replace it with a non infused version any time I need to change my infusion set.
yes
Your artificer infusions don't have to throw off weight carried. Add a container and rename it "Custom Items" or something like that. Uncheck the box next to it and anything you put in it will not count toward incumbrance. Instead of deleting custom items, you now have a place to store ones that aren't being used. Whenever you create an infusion, just move the items between containers. The rest of your party can do the same. Not as good as a party inventory, but at least you won't have to keep recreating custom items.
This is awesome! Thank you for the hard work on this particular item and thank you in advance for all the other items on your lengthy TO-DO list that will delight and enthrall us!!! - Gaidin
Its fantastic only thing missing is the option for attunement
What?
