We’ve just leveled up in a big way.
Dungeons & Dragons and D&D Beyond have always felt like a part of the same family. That’s why we’re excited to announce that D&D Beyond is formally joining Wizards of the Coast, bringing together two teams that eat, breathe, and sweat for this game and continue to strive to make D&D easy to run, exciting, and accessible to all.
You (and by you, we mean the 10 million users that have been on this adventure with us since 2017!) are probably wondering what kind of change might happen as a result of these two teams coming together, so let’s make this clear: Wizards of the Coast has no plans to stop supporting D&D Beyond. Ever. The purchases you’ve made, the characters you’ve created, and the campaigns you’ve run aren’t going anywhere.
You’ve probably got a million questions about what comes next. What we can say for sure is that we’re excited for what the future holds as we dig in with our new partners. We wish you could see the big stupid grins we’ve all been walking around with. This is truly an incredible time for all of us, and it really feels like there’s no limit to what we can accomplish for our players. Remember, the key factor that makes this partnership perfect is that these teams want one thing: to make your experience playing the World’s Greatest Roleplaying Game even better.
If you’ve been on this journey with us for a while, we’re so glad you’re here. If you’re brand new and clicked on the site today to figure out what the big news was all about, welcome! Remember to register for a free account! (Sorry, couldn’t help ourselves.) We’ll have more to share with you throughout the year, so tune in to the Dev Update, which airs on Twitch on Thursdays at 10 a.m. PT, and check out new content right here on dndbeyond.com.

Hope you all get pay rises! :D
Maybe they can fix the spell glitches on our characters...
Very good question. I was lucky and found DnDB shortly after I started playing again and had only bought PHB but I can imagine the people who have all the hard copies and are loathe to pay for the same content again.
You forgot to change the footer lol.
I would say discount would be more likely. You need to remember there is a lot of work that goes into the digital product. Its not a simple PDF copy of the books. But now that you won't have two boards or two groups of shareholders to please, I could see getting a discount for DDB when we by a hard copy or vise versa. But this is all just speculation.
Y’all know this means WotC has official forums again.
So this means I can use a code from my physical books to redeem for a digital right? One can hope.
Cool. Now maybe you can get Wizards to stop reprinting old material as new books?
Does this mean that Wizards of the Coast will look at feedback we give through D&D Beyond?
So does this mean you'll have the resources to finally finish all of the little things that never seem to get done??
The Essentials set came with codes as an incentive to try D&D Beyond. And the code for the PHB was for half off not for free.
WAIT Does this mean we can FINALLY Get codes for DDB Copies of books in physical releases? So I don't have to buy 2 copies of every book!
YAY!
I am so pleased. I've been concerned ever since that survey came out that sort of indicated they were going to go on their own.
Now we need a VTT or at least a microphone so we can run theater of the mind.
They are already discounted though, 40% less than retail price of physical books.
Do you think there's a chance of making the physical copies that we bought from Wizards of the Coast into digital copies on DnD Beyond now that they're together?
I really hope they put DM Guild stuff on here now.
I want Domains of Delight to be on here so bad.
We are going to keep asking until we get an answer: Are we going to get digital copies of the books we buy in hardcover? It's called good will and it's worth more than 9th level scrolls and Holy Avengers.
Everyone seems fixated on pairing physical books with digital content in D&D Beyond. Not me. My hope is that this means WotC can invest more in the platform and offer a complete ecosystem for online play with a fully-integrated virtual tabletop. Congrats to Fandom, and congrats to Hasbro for what looks to me like a very sound acquisition. Sincerely hope this means good things for us D&D addicts in the future!
