You weave shadow into a solid spike and hurl it at a creature that you can see within range. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or else take 1d8 piercing damage. If both you and the target are in dim light or darkness, the target instead takes 1d10 piercing damage, and you are heavily obscured to it until the start of your next turn. The effect ends immediately if you or the target enter bright light.
The spell’s damage increases by one die when you reach 5th level (2d8 or 2d10), 11th level (3d8 or 3d10), and 17th level (4d8 or 4d10).
Cool, but op. Better than shadow blade, which is a second-level spell that requires concentration. I love the idea, but if it existed in the game I think it would make shadow blade not worth it.
I appreciate the feedback :)
Can you elaborate some? In what ways do you feel it is better than shadow blade?
This is a good cantrip, something the game is in need of more of. However its no Eldritch Blast. Which is good. This is less damage than Toll the Dead, but has added utility.
I do not think this spell does anywhere near the damage of shadow blade. Shadow Blade counts as a weapon and as such benefits mostly from Extra Attack or similar features that allow its damage to be done multiple times. This is a cantrip that deals dice on hit. There is no modifier, and it can only hit once. It has a win-more mechanic with the gained concealment on a hit. And Win-more is less good than a feature that is universally useful.
Keep it up!

how is this op? It does firebolt damage in niche situations and applies attack roll disadvantage in the same situation. But in most situations is less effective than bone chill or ray of frost. Also, the Dex saving throw really limits the targets it can hit. Seems like a perfectly good addition to cantrip list.
