Frozen orbs of destruction plummet to the ground at four different points you can see within range. Each creature in a 40-foot-radius sphere centered on each point you choose must make a Dexterity saving throw. The impact spreads around corners. A creature takes 20d6 cold damage and 20d6 piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature in the area of more than one icy explosion is affected only once.
The spell damages objects in the area.
I love the idea but this is practically just another version of meteor swarm.
this isn't fundamentally bad, but this is indeed just a damage-type swapped version of meteor swarm. My suggestion would be to: alter the damage dice, to be d10s instead of the d6s characteristic of fire damage spells; to reduce the expected (average) damage by maybe 20 percent; alter the description, from four giant ice-meteors, to four areas of intense bombardment with huge hailstones; add a secondary effect, such as reducing the speed of all creatures who fail their saves by 10ft, and knocking flying creatures who fail their saves prone; and finally, IMO it would be more unique if it created say 6 such areas instead of 4, but they all must be contiguous with each-other (like a storm). This of course implies reducing the damage somewhat as it's being distributed over a larger area. Of course anyone who chooses to use this spell could also easily implement one or all of these changes with very little effort!
It is exactly Meteor Swarm except with cold damage.
it is for fire creatures
