You conjure a quantity of slick grease on an area of ground equal to 25 square feet per caster level or upon a specific object of equal or less surface area.
When the grease appears on the ground, each creature standing in its area must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. A creature that enters the area or ends its turn there must also succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. The grease is highly flammable and can be ignited by flame or a spell effect that can ignite flammable objects. If the grease is ignited, creatures in the area of effect take 1d10 fire damage per round, and the spell's duration becomes 1 round per caster level up to a maximum of 6 rounds (1 minute); thus, if ignited in the 3rd round after its casting by a 3rd-level wizard, the spell will end after that round.
A prone creature in the area of effect may make a Dexterity saving throw at the end of each of its turns. On success, the creature may use its movement to leave the area of effect on its next turn; if the creature does not move out of the spell's area on its next turn, it must make another successful Dexterity saving throw or fall prone at the end of its turn.
When cast upon an object such as a ladder or rope--anything on or with which a creature attempts movement--the spell's effects are the same as above. When cast upon an object that a creature is holding or manipulating, such as a lever, a tool, or a weapon, the creature holding or attempting to manipulate the object must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw to retain its grasp on the object; if the object is not being held or manipulated by a creature, including an object dropped as a result of this spell, the Dexterity saving throw for grasping the object during the spell's duration is made with disadvantage.
