You create a Large hand of shimmering, translucent force in an unoccupied space that you can see within range. The hand lasts for the spell's duration, and it moves at your command, mimicking the movements of your own hand.
The hand is an object that has AC 20 and hit points equal to your hit point maximum. If it drops to 0 hit points, the spell ends. It has a Strength of 26 (+8) and a Dexterity of 10 (+0). The hand doesn't fill its space.
When you cast the spell and as a bonus action on your subsequent turns, you can move the hand up to 60 feet and then cause one of the following effects with it.
Clenched Fist. The hand strikes one creature or object within 5 feet of it. Make a melee spell attack for the hand using your game statistics. On a hit, the target takes 4d8 force damage.
Forceful Hand. The hand attempts to push a creature within 5 feet of it in a direction you choose. Make a check with the hand's Strength contested by the Strength (Athletics) check of the target. If the target is Medium or smaller, you have advantage on the check. If you succeed, the hand pushes the target up to 5 feet plus a number of feet equal to five times your spellcasting ability modifier. The hand moves with the target to remain within 5 feet of it.
Grasping Hand. The hand attempts to grapple a Huge or smaller creature within 5 feet of it. You use the hand's Strength score to resolve the grapple. If the target is Medium or smaller, you have advantage on the check. While the hand is grappling the target, you can use a bonus action to have the hand crush it. When you do so, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to 2d6 + your spellcasting ability modifier.
Interposing Hand. The hand interposes itself between you and a creature you choose until you give the hand a different command. The hand moves to stay between you and the target, providing you with half cover against the target. The target can't move through the hand's space if its Strength score is less than or equal to the hand's Strength score. If its Strength score is higher than the hand's Strength score, the target can move toward you through the hand's space, but that space is difficult terrain for the target.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the damage from the clenched fist option increases by 2d8 and the damage from the grasping hand increases by 2d6 for each slot level above 5th.

Arcane Tricksters top out with 4th level spells. This is a 5th-level spell. How is this spell "available for"?
Isnt this just bigby's hand?
It's so the Arcane Trickster can cast it from a scroll.
Thanks for the info, it has been puzzling us in my group.
Cant anyone use a scroll?
No. Only spellcasters can use scrolls, and they can only use scrolls containing spells in their class spell list.
From dungeon master's guide, p139 : "Any creature that can understand a written language can read the arcane script on a scroll and attempt to activate it"
So I'm curious where you found this rule about only spellcaster able to use scrolls.
Indeed, anyone can "Attempt" to activate it, but not everyone can use any spell scroll.
Page 200 in the DMG "A spell scroll bears the words of a single spell, written in a mystical cipher. If the spell is on your class's spell list you can use an action to read the scroll and cast its spell without having to provide any of the spell's components. Otherwise, the scroll is unintelligible."
This would then imply that only spellcasters use spell scrolls since the spell needs to be on the spellcasters spell list.
That being said, anyone can read an use a Scroll of Protection 😉👍
What happens when mage hand gets an up cast.
Yes, but a lot of the spells that are named after famous wizards, such as Leomund's Tiny Hut, Tasha's Hideous Laughter, and Bigby's Hand, have copyright-free versions in the Basic Rules, which are offered for free.
Why specifically that is, I couldn't tell you, but that is the case.
This spell would be awesome for warlocks.
it is so that if your playing a game where none of those wizards existed these spells are still relevant
despite being the knockoff basic rules version of bigby's hand it has not yet been moved to the artificer spell list, how interesting
uhhh yeah i think so
Bigby's is available for Artirficer and Fathomless, why is this still marked just Wizard?
The forceful hand says the hands strength is contested with the targets strength. I know the rogue will contest this when I tell him. Would you accept strength only checks or would you allow a rogue to use dex, like when escaping a grapple?
On subsequent turns. You can't punch twice on the first turn then right? That's supposedly the point of Mordenkainen's sword.
Unusual for a bonus action weaponizer to scale so well with upcasting, double damage at level 7. If it wasn't for concentration this would almost completely invalidate crown of stars.
What happens when the hand has to make a saving throw?
Yes but it’s the copywrite free version
