You place an illusion on a creature or an object you touch so that divination spells reveal false information about it. The target can be a willing creature or an object that isn't being carried or worn by another creature.
When you cast the spell, choose one or both of the following effects. The effect lasts for the duration. If you cast this spell on the same creature or object every day for 30 days, placing the same effect on it each time, the illusion lasts until it is dispelled.
False Aura. You change the way the target appears to spells and magical effects, such as detect magic, that detect magical auras. You can make a nonmagical object appear magical, a magical object appear nonmagical, or change the object's magical aura so that it appears to belong to a specific school of magic that you choose. When you use this effect on an object, you can make the false magic apparent to any creature that handles the item.
Mask. You change the way the target appears to spells and magical effects that detect creature types, such as a paladin's Divine Sense or the trigger of a symbol spell. You choose a creature type and other spells and magical effects treat the target as if it were a creature of that type or of that alignment.

What's the difference between this and Nystul’s Magic Aura?
If I'm reading this right, with the Mask part of the spell an evil wizard could bypass things like a paladin's Divine Sense or Protection from Evil and Good?
No difference
Yes. A fiend with this could appear as an angel to Divine Sense. It's really powerful, situationally, for a low level spell.
For the basic rules they strip any names out so there's things like Otoluk's Freezing Sphere in the PHB and Freezing Sphere for the Basic Rules, Leomund's Tiny Hut/Tiny Hut, and so on. It keeps any story or lore elements out of public copyright is why I think they do it.
Haha! I'm going to mess with our Paladin by giving a cow an evil aura!
Excellent.
This spell is an essential for vampires and doppelgängers. Either would pay a wizard who can cast it, handsomely.
Stop giving the spells different names, or make it possible to turn off. Please. I don’t want this nonexistent spell to keep popping up whenever I try to look at a list of spells.
Nice. Prego is a great master!!!!!!!!!
How do this work with identify? Can it hide certain aspect of the item?
Whoops, screwed up, actual comment below
Better yet, the evil wizard could make the Aura of hate of the party's oathbreaker apply to the rest of the party instead of just the oathbreaker himself. Just have them masked as undead.
I wonder just how sophisticated this spell can be. Can I cast it on my Imp familiar and give the aura of a Dragon Marked Dwarf for sneaking into a bank in Eberron? Asking for a friend ;)
Worse yet, a mage terrorist could cast this on random doe eyed school children giving them the aura of evil undead and tell them the Paladin is handing out sweat meats to all the good little children in the city.
wait a minute...
Makes SPELLS and OTHER MAGICAL EFFECTS treat it as if it were that creature type or that alignment.
So planar binding can now enslave ALL TYPES OF CREATURES??!?!
Keep in mind that this spell must be cast on a willing target.
So some subterfuge would need to be done first (though that's a given when your stated goal is "enslave ALL TYPES OF CREATURES")
You can't believe how nice this spell is when your playing a home-brew campaign that has magic items banned from a country.
My wizard's gonna start using this to hide from spells like Hold Person. Lot of things look for Humanoids.
Omg I need to do this
