Foreknowledge
By casting gem-inlaid sticks, rolling dragon bones, laying out ornate cards, or employing some other divining tool, you receive an omen from an otherworldly entity about the results of a specific course of action that you plan to take within the next 30 minutes. The DM chooses from the following possible omens:
- Weal, for good results
- Woe, for bad results
- Weal and woe, for both good and bad results
- Nothing, for results that aren't especially good or bad
The spell doesn't take into account any possible circumstances that might change the outcome, such as the casting of additional spells or the loss or gain of a companion.
If you cast the spell two or more times before completing your next long rest, there is a cumulative 25 percent chance for each casting after the first that you get a random reading. The DM makes this roll in secret.
* - (specially marked sticks, bones, or similar tokens worth at least 25 gp)

Posted Sep 20, 2021I find it interesting that this is this for cleric and not also available to wizards, sorcerers and maybe even warlocks?
Fortune telling has not been an exclusively divine function historically, a creative DM maywant to include "horoscope" in the list of diviner's tools
Never mind this comment it is based on the PHB source only.

Posted Oct 30, 2021Since this was optionally added to the Druid's and Wizard's spell lists, would that mean that you could add them to your ritual book if you have the ritual caster feat or is it still restricted to rituals that are purely from the chosen spell list?

Posted Nov 5, 2021It is available. Open your wizard in character builder, go to the builder section 2 (class), expand the additional wizard spells box, click "show more", check the enable box. Go back to your character sheet and when manage your spellbook to add a new spell you will see it is available.
p.s. worth doing the same for the cantrip formulae as well.

Posted Nov 22, 2021I find it confusing that the oath of the open sea can cast it, aren't they all about being free? I don't exactly think they would have too many gods

Posted Sep 24, 2023Check out this link for ideas on types of divination methods from a site for long lost words . Tyromancy is in this list. This is the one made famous in the Witcher game. Another favorite is labiomancy. Not exactly a divination method but another word for lip reading.
