I find many rules ambiguous in that they don’t explain enough. Yes, the creature can make their strength check to free itself THIS ROUND but next round it STILL has more AOE to cover! SO, does the victim continue to make STR checks UNTIL they are out of the AOE? Or have they become immune to its effect simply by making the initial STR check?

I was confused about that for a while too!  No, the creature only has to make the save once (assuming that they were in the target area when the spell was cast).  After that round, and assuming it has freed itself from the vines, it can move away.  It does need to move through difficult terrain though.

Does this spell affect multiple creatures in the AoE when I cast it? Or is it just one creature? I've seen both ways...

I would consider it as helping and allow the player advantage on the save.

Technical answer:  you don’t need sight (so you can still cast when blinded), but you still need lime-of-effect (you can’t just cast through a solid wall).

Practical Advice:  don’t be afraid your foot down and say “no” as the GM, if you think something is wrong.  However, if you find yourself hesitating to make a ruling, just ask the player to roll something (in this case, a difficult Wisdom check would probably be appropriate).

The big thing is to not get caught up in detailed arguments, those can eat up a lot of time.

Generally no, because this spell is not on the Bard spell list. If you look at the "Available for" line at the bottom of each spell's description, it tells you which classes it's available for. This one is exclusive to Druids.

There are ways to get spells from other class lists, like the Magic Initiate feat.

How tall are the vines/weeds? It isn't specified.

Can the spell work if your target is in 10 feet or more of water?
