Bolstering yourself with a necromantic facsimile of life, you gain 1d4 + 4 temporary hit points for the duration.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you gain 5 additional temporary hit points for each slot level above 1st.

Wow. This makes me want to be a warlock
Can this be used to get an unconcious Character back into action for the duration?
Since the spell has a range of self, that would mean that the unconscious character has to cast this on themselves. So by that fact alone this would not be possible. But I'm guessing you're more specifically asking about getting temporary hit points while at 0 HP.
Page 198 of the PHB: If you have 0 hit points, receiving temporary hit points doesn't restore you to consciousness or stabilize you. They can still absorb damage directed at you while you're in that state, but only true healing can save you.
Hope that answers your question :)
Perfect answer! Thank you! :)
Do multiple casting of false life stack? E. G. turn one cast false life gain 5 thp, turn two cast false life gain 5 thp. Resulting in a total of 10 thp. The first cast lasts 59 minutes and 54 seconds and the second lasts one hour ect...
Temporary hit points do not stack. If you already have temporary hit points and another spell/ability/effect grants you more temporary hit points, you must choose which batch of temporary hit points to keep.
PHB > Chapter 9: Combat > Temporary Hit Points: “If you have temporary hit points and receive more of them, you decide whether to keep the ones you have or to gain the new ones. For example, if a spell grants you 12 temporary hit points when you already have 10, you can have 12 or 10, not 22.”
Why make this spell only able to target self? That seems like a weird restriction when comparing it to other healing spells. Are temporary hit points that much more expensive or rare?
Because it's not meant to be a "healing" spell in the traditional sense. Note that most of the classes with access to this (Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock) don't have any other healing spells. This is purposeful. Giving these classes the ability to heal others would seriously change game balance.
Really wished something can be done about the temporary life being non-stackable. Like casting False Life right before Wild Shape and having an extra padding of life as buffer.
Can this be casted on a creature multiple times? if so (signature spells) feature would allow you to get to 2,700 temp hp.
Temporary hp don't stack.
extra hp's from the aid spell can be stacked with temp hps.
This spell would stack with wildshape the animal form hp are not technically temporary hp more like substitute hp they can be healed temporary hp cannot.
I have a Wizard in my group. He only has 4 Health. I may have to force him to take this...
I believe that would still work. wild shape doesn't give you temp hp. it just makes your hp max and total equal to whatever you turned into. therefore, temporary hp could still cary over
can you cast this on someone else with sorcerer metamagic distant spell
Can a Warlock with the pact of The Undying have this spell? If not, the that is something I would like to be changed 😁👌🏻
Yes but armor of agathys is a much better spell to take. Also you mean undying patron not pact.
Casting word is:
Distorticus Existencium
yes its on their spell list, but any warlock can cast this spell at first level at will (no spell slot or components required) with the fiendish vigor eldritch invocation
