Posted May 20, 2021Possible counters to hellish rebuke: blind the target... they have to see to be able to use this reaction.
Pin their arms, or remove them?? No finger pointing=no rebuke

Posted Jun 8, 2021Can this be used in response to lair actions? this was a major discussion point in our last encounter. we saw it as lair actions are still actions taken by the creature so we ended up allowing it.

Posted Jun 23, 2021Pinning arms wont stop pointing a finger if wrist and fingers are still moving. But cutting hands off might do the trick...

Posted Sep 20, 2021Being a reaction to an attack, flurry of blows is just two unarmed strikes, so you should be able to use hellish rebuke after the first strike if it hits.

Posted Jul 27, 2022Ok I have a question... If I'm a Fighter Class Tiefling doesn't that technically mean. I have a potential spell sheet to use these spells on/for. Because they are spells. I'm not saying I'm a full blown wizard, warlock or sorcerer but what I am saying is... Can I level up the spell slot for the spellcasting potency. When I am a fighter or is it strictly level 1 access??? Like can I use a 3rd or 4th level Hellish Rebuke regardless of my class???

Posted Aug 16, 2022This spells can be used naturally by a Tiefling only under the conditions specified on their racial traits, they don't naturally have spell slots, but the Hellish Rebuke is automatically casted as a 2nd level spell and then you need to wait to use that racial trait again, the spell slots can only be unlocked in the class, wich means that if you want to use the Hellish Rebuke with more than the 2nd level spell of the tiefling's racial trait, then you would need to at least have an archetype in your class that unlocks those spell slots, then you can use them to upgrade this spell.

Posted Dec 15, 2022You can’t ever upcast the Tiefling’s Hellish Rebuke because you can’t cast it with spell slots. You can only cast a racial spell with slots if the racial trait (or your DM) says you can

Posted Mar 23, 2023you can only do one reaction per turn. so if an attacker uses a multi attack you could only do hellish rebuke on one of them.

Posted Dec 3, 2023I made a special Draco blade that when attacked, you can cast this spell through the blade, but they must be in reach, and it deals 1D10 slashing and 1D10 fire damage.

Posted Apr 25, 2024If you had Spell Sniper, would that make your Hellish Rebuke out to a range of 120ft?

Posted May 6, 2024Unfortunately no. Spell Sniper doubles the range of "a spell that requires you to make an attack roll", and Hellish Rebuke doesn't use an attack roll.

Posted Jul 5, 2024When casting spells that use an odd number of dice for damage and that the saving throw is a success, does the damage become half of the damage rolled (3d10 : approximately 15 damage divided by 2 : about 7 if 15/2 rounded down ) or half the dice (rounded down I guess: 1d10) instead?

Posted Jul 26, 2024It's half the damage, not half the dice. You roll the normal number of dice, then divide the result by two. You round down unless it explicitly says to round up.
