A passage appears at a point of your choice that you can see on a wooden, plaster, or stone surface (such as a wall, a ceiling, or a floor) within range, and lasts for the duration. You choose the opening's dimensions: up to 5 feet wide, 8 feet tall, and 20 feet deep. The passage creates no instability in a structure surrounding it.
When the opening disappears, any creatures or objects still in the passage created by the spell are safely ejected to an unoccupied space nearest to the surface on which you cast the spell.

There is no better way to sink a ship than casting Passwall on the hull. Change my mind.
Ahaha very good, I love that idea for using this spell! I would argue, perhaps not change your mind, that for a 5th level spell wall of force would be a good contender! Immovable force placed in the path of a ship, though I guess passwall doesn't require a ship to be moving, does have a lot less range though.
How did you get in that position
Its range is 30 feet, so you're on the ship that's sinking.
Not neccessarily. Cast waterbreathing on yourself. Sink the ship from underwater thirty feet away.
When your druid wanders from the group to cast this to get through a locked door and ends up in a room with the BBEG all alone and about 3 levels down
This feels like a 3-4 level spell
YOOOOOO
this spell is 3rd tier at best

You can full on Moses a ship.
SECRET TUNNEL!!!! SECRET TUNNEL!!!!!! THROUGH THE MOUNTAIN!!!!! SECRET SECRET SECRET SECRET SECRET TUNNEL!!!!!
YOOOOOO
Unfortunately it's only 20 feet deep at most. Still good for infiltrating a compound or making a quick escape though.
Cast it from the ship you are on defending against the approaching raiding party's vessel when the pull along side your vessel.
Well remember, that it basically make doors and walls irrelevant, meaning you can circumvent most of the dms locks.
YOOOOOO
Could you cast this underneath a creature and have them fall into a hole and trap them?
No, it says that when the spell ends creatures in the passageway are safely ejected
What happens if I choose the floor bellow an enemy?
You didn't got it.
Let's say, we cast it underneath a creatures, it would fall up to 20 feet deep, yes, when an hour has passed in-game, the creature will go back up, safely, but until then, it would reamin down there.
Moreover, wouldn't it gain 20 feet worth of fall damage?
