You point at a location within range, and a glowing, 1-foot-diameter ball of emerald acid streaks there and explodes in a 20-foot-radius sphere. Each creature in that area must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 10d4 acid damage and another 5d4 acid damage at the end of its next turn. On a successful save, a creature takes half the initial damage and no damage at the end of its next turn.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the initial damage increases by 2d4 for each slot level above 4th.

Creatures aren't hidden unless they take the hide action, so you would still know the general area which is all you need.
Is the damage on the next Turn higher when the spell is used with a higher spell Level? It seams to be half of the Initial damage. Or can i cast It with 20d4 and still get only 5d4 damage next round?
I have to find a way to get this spell on my kobold alchemist with the elemental adapt (acid) feat. The character is all about acid attacks and turning 1s into 2s is very powerful when rolling large stacks of d4s.
It's a shame it doesn't go around corners.
.
Currently in a Spelljammer campaign, could this be used to damage ships?
It specifically says “creatures in the area” so RAW it does not damage ships. Would be entirely up to your DM.
It's a 20 sphere. Just point it at a spot that you can see but engulfs your target. Hell, have it explode over the mmob's head
You can use it to your advantage too though. Drop it in the right spot and your allies won't get hit. If there's a wall, pillar or big rock in the way.
People are saying it's overpowered because it's comparable to 4th level upcast fireball, but that doesn't make it OP. It's a 4th level spell after all.
For a 9th level caster that's the difference between 4 possible castings and 7 castings.
bro op
Yeah. This seems made for Artillerists or Alchemists.
