A roiling bank of shadow-choked mist pours forth at a point you choose within range. The cloud spreads around corners and covers a 20-foot-radius, 40-foot-high cylinder. It is heavily obscured and moves 10 feet away from you at the start of each of your turns, rolling along the ground like living smog.
The miasma is filled with the whispers of the dead and the weight of sorrow. Each creature that starts its turn in the cloud or enters it for the first time on a turn must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 10d8 necrotic damage, or half as much on a success.
Effect – Sapping Apathy:
If a creature fails the saving throw, it is also affected by crushing apathy until the start of its next turn. While apathetic:
- It cannot take reactions to make attacks.
- Its movement speed is halved.
- It has disadvantage on the next attack it makes before the end of its turn.
Wind & Light Effects:
The spell’s cloud moves away from you as normal. A moderate wind (at least 10 mph) disperses it in 4 rounds; a strong wind (20+ mph) disperses it in 1 round. In bright light, the miasma dims unnaturally—creatures inside see only shifting silhouettes.
