Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Demon have tapped into ancient, dark forces to give themselves mystical powers. Typically distant from other monasteries as their traditions are considered barbaric and crude, the Way of the Demon is entirely focused on gaining might and power through old infernal forces.

While other monasteries may be focused on enlightenment through tradition, will, and spiritual connection to natural forces, the Way of the Demon focused on another path to the same goal; gaining enlightenment through amassing power. As a result, these monks tend to be more braulic and brash than others, often directly seeking conflict while others would favor against it, as their tenants are heavily focused on the art of war and combat.

Those who follow this way are typically denoted by simple clothes designed to assist them while fighting. Typically seen wearing Gi with the face of a demon painted on their backs, usually becoming more ornate the higher rank an individual is within the monasteries.

Demon of Might

When you accept this subclass at 3rd level, replace your proficiency with Dexterity saving throws with proficiency in Strength saving throws. Additionally, for the cost of a ki point, you can enter a state of mighty and brutal rage for 1 minute as a bonus action, allowing you to perform feats of savage strength some could only dream of, granting you the following abilities:

  • Your nails have been honed into a demon's claws, allowing you to deal slashing damage instead of bludgeoning damage with your unarmed strikes if you choose. Similarly, wreathed in flame your unarmed strikes now deal an additional 1d4 of fire damage, but your unarmed strike must be done with Strength for it to take effect.
  • Your might can unbalance your foes, potentially leaving them open for a strike. Once per turn when you strike an opponent with an unarmed strike while this is active, they must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength score), if they fail, you gain advantage on your next strike. If they succeed, nothing happens.

Demon of Hatred

Upon reaching 6th level in this class, you gain the ability to manifest your hatred into infernal power against an enemy of your choosing. Whenever you activate your Demon of Might feature, you can spend an additional ki point to choose a target within 30 ft. of you and inflict them with an infernal curse. Otherwise, you can spend a ki point to activate this feature by itself as a bonus action.

  • When you use Strength for your unarmed strike against the target of your choosing, you gain a bonus to your damage equal to your proficiency bonus.
  • Once per turn when you strike the cursed target with your unarmed strike, they must make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of you (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength score) for one minute. If a creature succeeds on the saving throw or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to this effect for the next 24 hours.

Demon of Rage

When you use your Demon of Might feature, you can spend an additional ki point to activate this feature along with it. Otherwise, you can spend 2 ki points to activate it by itself as a bonus action for 1 minute. You focus your now demonic fury into pure power and ability, amplifying your already supernatural condition.

  • Spectral demonic arms granted by your attunement with demons appear on your body. When you are hit by a melee weapon attack, you may use your reaction to make an attack with these arms (using your unarmed strike), and if the attack hits, deal 3d8 fire damage against the attacker.
  • You gain resistance to fire and poison damage and immunity to the poisoned condition. Due to the additional spectral arms, you gain advantage on Strength saving throws.

Demon of Destruction

Honed into a catalyst of destruction, you are able to push well beyond mortal limits and destroy all in your path. You can choose to activate this feature alongside the Demon of Might's feature activating as with the other abilities for 4 ki points or activate it by itself for the same amount. Upon activating this feature, for the next minute, you gain the following attributes:

  • Whenever you use your flurry of blows ability, you harness your infernal power into your final strike and deal an additional 1d10 of damage if you're using Strength for your unarmed strike, shattering your opponent like glass.
  • Once per turn when you strike an opponent with an unarmed strike using Strength, you can deal an additional 1d8 fire damage or 1d12 if you have advantage against the opponent.
