Base Class: Monk
The order you belong to knows that magic is a force that can easily be used for malicious purposes. While not inherently evil itself, those who choose to wield it for their own nefarious intent need to be stopped.
You are specially trained in the ways of harnessing your Ki to manipulate, and even nullify, the magical force that would be used against you or your allies. You are practiced in the ways of preventing individuals from casting, dispelling certain enchantments from spells or magic items, and even mastering the flow of Ki to produce antimagic shelters from magic.
Arcane Pursuits
You have practiced techniques useful in melee combat against spellcasters, gaining the following benefits:
- When a creature within 5 feet of you casts a spell, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack, or an unarmed strike, against that creature.
- When you damage a creature that is concentrating on a spell, that creature has disadvantage on the saving throw it makes to maintain its concentration.
- You have advantage on saving throws against spells cast by creatures within 5 feet of you. This ability is strengthened at lvl 11 to where they do not need to be within 5ft of the caster.
- Trained in Arcana skill
Breaker of Spells
You have learned to harness the ki within your body to dispel magic affecting another creature. When you hit with a melee attack you may expend 1 ki point to attempt to remove a single spell effecting that creature, an 1 of their attuned magic items. You must make a check using your wisdom modifier against a DC equal to 10 + the spell's level. Alternatively you can target the attunment of an item if its rarity is rare of lower. If you succeed on the check they lose the attunment until the start of your next turn (DCs listed below). At lvl 11th you can target the attunement of very rare items and at 17th lvl you can target legendary items.
- Uncommon DC 14 60%
- Rare 16 50%
- Very Rare 18 40%
- Legendary 20 30%
In addition, when you successfully break a creatures concentration they lose the ability to concentrate on any spell until the start of your next turn.
Unravel the Weave
When you or an ally within 5ft of you succeed on a saving throw against a spell or a spell attack misses either of you from a hostile creature, you may spend 3 ki points as a reaction to choose another creature (including the spellcaster) within the spell's range. The spell targets the chosen creature in addition to the original targets. If the spell forced a saving throw, the chosen creature makes its own save. If the spell was an attack, the attack roll is rerolled against the chosen creature.
Additionally, you gain expertise in Arcana.
Protection of the Unwoven
At 17th level, you gain the ability to produce an antimagic field, as in the antimagic field spell, using the ki in your body. As an action you can spend a number of Ki points to affect the level of magic your field can nullify. The dome will nullify magic of a spell level equal to the number of ki points - 1 you choose to spend.
In addition, magic items are also nullified with certain rarities being affected at different Ki point amounts. The amount thresholds are as follows:
- 3 ki points to nullify uncommon items
- 5 ki points to nullify rare
- 7 ki points to nullify very rare
- 10 ki points to nullify legendary
The dome will last for 10 minutes and requires you to maintain concentration (as if it were a spell).

Posted Mar 20, 2022It's great, but still relies on succeeding saves and not being stopped before you can reach the spellcaster, things like polymorph, banishment all remove you as a threat, maybe in breaker of spells they can use a ki point to remove a spell affecting them or another as a bonus action, otherwise by the wording you punch yourself and it kind of works. In addition to this, with the reaction to attack a creature casting a spell, have this potentially interrupt somatic components, and or use ki to have a limited dispel magic/ counterspell, until 17th level the subclass is as useful as generic monk when invading a wizards towers or anywhere with magical traps, sure they can combat a spellcaster, but cant do much to actually counter magic till 17th level.

Posted Mar 16, 2022I just saw your tiktok on this and it called out to me! This is awesome! You did great!
EDIT: I just noticed that on the character sheet and actions page the ‘Arcane Pursuits’ doesn’t show.

Posted Mar 16, 2022Just came here from your TikTok! I've been looking forward to this one. I really want to implement this in my games for an entire order that exists in the world (and possibly an enemy group as well). Great work! It's very specialized but very good.
