Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

As a Hidden blade you become extremely more deadly when striking from the shadows. You have learnt the advantage that positioning has when striking your targets. Your tools have also become specialized in taking down your targets, and can also grant you the upper hand in combat. When striking enemies down positioning and technique will be key. You are at your strongest when you are in the shadows, but still capable enough when detected and in active combat.

Killer Expertise

At 3rd level you receive an Assassin’s kit, it contains a pair of assassin’s gloves. You have advantage when attacking enemies when you are in:

hiding

above the enemy

behind or coming out of cover

You also have advantage while attempting to attack creatures that haven’t taken a turn in combat, this effect runs out after the first round of combat.

If the attack hits in any of these conditions, the attack is treated as a critical hit, except on creatures that haven’t taken a turn in the first round of combat, unless you are in any of the aforementioned positions.

Assassin Gear

You can receive your assassin gloves in many ways (please refer to your DM and your Character backstory to make it appropriate in how you’ll receive these tools) Some examples or inspiration:

You received your Gloves from another Rogue maybe a mentor, ex partner or party member. Maybe they were sent by a secret organization that have an eye for your abilities

A family member had them as an heirloom or maybe your character wasn’t worthy of said tools and you have to steal them. Maybe you are being tested by your criminal family and you must prove yourself to acquire said tools

Alternatively, you can craft these tools by using:

2 daggers or 1 short-sword

1 crossbow

1 bow (if there’s an artificer in your party)

You have advantage at crafting these tools and to craft them you can use your thieves tools

If there’s an artificer in your party or someone with proficiency with smithing tools you have will automatically succeed at crafting them

Hidden Crossbow

A small wrist crossbow on the left hand. Works with crossbow bolts. Shots are silent and can coated with poison. You can use your sneak attack, if the attack hits and you are undetected or hiding is considered a critical hit. The crossbow automatically reloads with its current load.

Crossbow loads/Charges:

3rd level 3 bolts before reload

9th level 4 bolts before reload

13th level 5 bolts before reload

17th level 6 bolts before reload

Hidden

Roll to hit: d20 + Dexterity + Proficiency Modifier

Damage: 1d8 + Dexterity + Proficiency Modifier

When detected

Damage: 1d4 + Dexterity Modifier

Roll to hit: d20 + Dexterity Modifier

Hidden Blade

A small single-target wrist blade on the right hand that can be coated with poison. Has a range of touch. You can do a jumping attack with it if you’re above your enemy, or are covered, or are blending in with a crowd other than your party.

If attacking an enemy from cover and the attack kills, the enemy can be hidden in the cover that you were hiding from. Hiding the body will make the cover unusable and you must immediately exit from it.

After successfully executing an enemy with your hidden blade, your movement speed is doubled for 1 minute, or until you are incapacitated. If an attack fails with your hidden blade, you will be open to an opportunity attack.

Hidden blade damage stacks with sneak attack. When attacking an enemy in a crowd, if the attack fails, you must make a charisma saving throw in order to not be detected, but you will not be open to an opportunity attack unless you fail the Charisma saving throw.

Stealth:

Roll to hit: d20 + Dexterity + Proficiency Modifier

Damage: 1d8 + Dexterity + Proficiency Modifier.

When detected:

Damage: 1d4 + Dexterity Modifier

Roll to hit changes to d20+Dexterity Modifier

Infiltrator

At the 9th Level you receive an upgrade to your Hidden Crossbow, giving it a grappling hook that grants you a climbing speed of 10ft that can also be boosted by hidden blade’s execution speed boost. Switching from bolts to grappling hook mode uses an action.

The rope on the grappling hook can be cut, in which case make a constitution saving throw. If you are detected when the rope is cut, roll at disadvantage, or it can be cut by some type of wall trap or difficult sharp climb terrain.

If you have been climbing for more than 5 minutes you must make an acrobatics check to see if you can continue climbing. Alternatively, you can do an acrobatics check to climb faster, increasing the climbing speed to 20ft, but if the check fails, the rope breaks (refer above. In bolt mode, your hidden crossbow can be used as a bonus action in combat. If used as a bonus action, damage is calculated as 1d6 + Dexterity Modifier

As an action, you can pull in enemies using your hook. If the hook line is cut or damaged, you must fix it during a short rest using any kind of rope. The amount of rope used determines the climbing distance of the grappling hook.

Resourceful Blade

At the 13th level you receive another Assassin’s tool.

The Smoke bomb: A small pellet containing smoke. You have 1 smoke bomb at the 13th level, and 2 at the 17th level. When thrown, any attacks on or by creatures within the smoke roll at a disadvantage. The smoke lasts for 1 minute, and grants you and any other rogues attack advantage regardless of their subclass. During this state, you are considered hidden, but can still be attacked. After the smoke dissipates, you automatically are hidden for 1 minute and are disengaged from combat. The smoke bomb can be used as a reaction before rolling for initiative. Any creatures in the smoke during this phase get their initiative roll lowered by 1d4. The smoke has a radius of 20ft at the 13th level, and it increases to 40ft at the 17th level.

You also receive a second hidden blade on your left glove, making you capable of executing 2 hidden blade attacks at once.

Master Assassin

At the 17th level, you become a master of instant death. When you attack and hit a creature while you are hidden, it must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your Dexterity modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, double the damage of your attack against the creature.

After you kill an enemy in stealth, you automatically become hidden for 1 minute. This effect can be continuously stacked if you continue killing enemies in stealth.

Additionally, the damage of hidden crossbow and hidden blade increase:

Hidden blade: 2d10 + Stealth Modifier + Sleight of Hand Modifier

Crossbow: 2d8 + Stealth + Sleight of hand

You also gain the ability to craft Smoke Goggles. Wearing smoke goggles negates all negatives effects from being in smoke from the smoke bomb. Smoke Goggles can be worn in place of an eyepiece.

Smoke Goggles can be crafted with leather and glass.
