Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of Blinking Eye have focused their study on another dimension of space they call the Veil. Using their Ki they are able to manipulate and move through this dimension, allowing them to walk between spaces in a blink of an eye. They adapt this into their martial arts, making fighting a monk in this style feel like boxing with air. One moment they are connecting blows in close combat, but blink and they'll be 30 ft away taunting you to come forward. Despite their flighty fighting style, monks who follow this order are constantly drawn to the pursuit of knowledge. They are in persistent study of the veil and its properties, striving to achieve a higher understanding of how it works. Monks who achieve enlightenment in this order are given the title Phase Walker as a testament to their knowledge and prowess in Veil manipulation. Common monks however, may find themselves being employed as scientists or messengers.
Flicker Step
Starting when you choose this tradition at the 3rd level you have trained to harness your ki allowing you to flow through the veil between spaces unimpeded. This mastery over the firmament grants you new movement options.
Blink When you use the Step of the Wind feature you may immediately teleport 10 ft in any direction to an unoccupied space you can see within range. This increases to 20ft at lvl 10 and 30ft at lvl 17.
De-blink You as an action you may spend 2 Ki points to return to the space you were at the beginning of your last turn.
Momentum Strikes
At the 6th level you are able to store the momentum you gain while moving and unleash it with your attacks.
You gain one stack of momentum for every 30 feet you travel in 1 turn. When you make a melee weapon attack against a creature you may expend up to 4 of your stacks of momentum to deal 1d6 force damage per stack spent. You may choose to do this after you know the roll but before you know if it hits. You lose all your stacks if you do not move 15 ft on your turn.
Phase Thief
At the 11th level you have learned to sap the forces fueling the magical movement of your enemies and add it to your own.
As a reaction when a creature you can see attempts to teleport or move via magical means you can attempt to steal the energy propelling them. You make a check using your Wisdom score and proficiency bonus with the DC equaling 10+the spell slot Lvl or 10+the creatures proficiency bonus whichever is higher. If you are successful, the creature’s movement fails and you may immediately use your Blink feature without expending a Ki point. Once you use this feature you cannot do so again until a short or long rest.
Rift Walker
At the 17th level you have learned to channel your Ki in a way that transforms your body, allowing you to travel through the veil as easy as breathing air. By spending 7 Ki points you gain the following effects for 10 minutes or until you end the transformation as an action.
- You gain the effects of a Far Step
- You build momentum every 15ft instead of 30ft
- You can no longer lose momentum and the stacks are capped at 8 instead of 4
- As a reaction when a creature makes an attack against you you can attempt to make the attack phase through you. Roll 1d20, on an 11 or higher the attack misses regardless of the attack roll.
Once you use this feature you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest
