Base Class: Monk
Monks who follow the Way of Mysticism harness the arcane energies within themselves, combining their physical prowess with the art of spellcasting. Through intense meditation and training, they unlock the secrets of magic, weaving it seamlessly into their martial abilities.
Mystical Arts
At 3rd level, you gain a feature that enhances your mystical abilities.
-
Arcane Strikes: Your unarmed strikes count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks. Additionally, you can spend 1 ki point to infuse your unarmed strikes with arcane energy, allowing them to deal an extra 1d4 force damage on a hit for 1 minute.
-
Mystic Warding: You gain proficiency in the Arcana skill, and you can use your ki to shield yourself from magical effects. When you are targeted by a spell or magical effect, you can use your reaction to expend 1 ki point, gaining advantage on the saving throw against that effect.
Extensive Training
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with one of the following skills of your choice: Animal Handling, Arcana, Medicine, Perception, or Survival.
You can choose a second skill at the 6th and 11th levels.
Benevolence of the Woods
You gain proficiency in Animal Handling.
Determination of Metal
You gain proficiency in Survival.
Nurturing of Earth
You gain proficiency in Medicine.
Passion of Fire
You gain proficiency in Arcana.
Wisdom of Water
You gain proficiency in Perception.
Mystic Transmutation
At the 6th level, you gain the ability to manipulate the flow of ki and magic within yourself. As a bonus action, you can spend a number of ki points to create spell slots or convert existing spell slots into ki points. The total number of ki points you can spend or convert depends on the level of the spell slot:
- 1st level spell slot: 2 ki point
- 2nd level spell slot: 3 ki points
- 3rd level spell slot: 5 ki points
- 4th level spell slot: 6 ki points
- 5th level spell slot: 7 ki points
Alternatively, you can convert ki points into spell slots using the same conversion rate. You can create spell slots no higher in level than 5th.
This feature allows you to dynamically adjust your resource allocation between ki points and spell slots, giving you flexibility in combat and spellcasting.
Ethereal Flow
At the 11th level, your connection to magic allows you to flow seamlessly between spells and martial techniques. When you use your Flurry of Blows feature, you can replace one of the unarmed strikes with a spellcasting attack. If the attack hits, you can add your Wisdom modifier to the damage dealt with the spell.
Ethereal Deflection
At the 11th level, you can now use your Deflect Missiles feature against ranged attacks that deal any damage type, not just Bludgeoning, Piercing, or Slashing.
Mystic Arts Mastery
At the 17th level, you have attained unparalleled control over both martial arts and magic.
You gain the following benefits:
- You gain resistance against two damage types depending on your choice.
- Azure Dragon - cold, fire
- Black Tortoise - acid, poison
- Vermilion Bird - force, psychic
- White Tiger - necrotic, radiant
- Yellow Dragon - lightning, thunder
- As a reaction, when you will take damage from a type you have resistance to, you can spend 2 Ki points to gain immunity to that spell damage type until the end of your next turn.
- When you cast a spell, you can spend ki points up to your Wisdom modifier; for each ki point spent add 1d6 damage dice to the damage dealt by that spell, and it is of the same damage type. If the spell could do multiple types, you choose which of those types.
