Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The Murmuring Mystic is a Sorcerer with an innate sense and joy for illusion based magic, many spend their days happily creating little illusions to astound children and thrill adults but every now and they then lose themselves in an illusionary world of their own creation and can be seen walking and acting without a care in the world as they talk to people and creatures no-one else can see.

Illusionary World

Starting at 1st level, You enter trance-like state and a self made illusionary world instead of sleeping. You see the the real world overlaid with minor illusions. You no longer need to sleep and can’t be forced to sleep by any means. To gain the benefits of a long rest, you can spend all 8 hours doing light activity such as keeping watch. However, during this trance state you perceive small innocuous illusions that enthrall and delight you and occasionally distract you, whilst in this trance state you have Disadvantage on all Perception checks as well as any checks to see through or detect illusions, it is also not uncommon for Murmuring Mystics to talk, mutter and whisper to themselves during these trances.

Additionally, all spells from the Illusion School are considered Sorcerer spells and you can choose any Illusion spell from any class when you gain new spells or cantrips.

Illusionary Bird Familiar

Starting at 1st level, You learn the Find Familiar spell but can only use it to create an illusionary bird. You can decide what type of bird to create and use it as a Wizard would normally use their familiar except it is purely illusionary in nature, it does not count as Celestial, Fey or Fiend and has the following stats/abilities regardless of the form chosen.

Name: Illusionary Bird

Type: Tiny Illusion,

Alignment: Unaligned

Armor Class 12

Hit Points 1 (1d4-1)

Speed 10 ft., fly 50 ft.

 STR: 1 (-5), DEX: 14 (+2), CON: 8 (-1), INT: 2 (-4), WIS: 12 (+1),CHA:6 (-2)

  • Skills Perception +3
  • Senses passive Perception 13
  • Challenge 0 (10 XP)
  • Mimicry. The  illusionary bird can mimic simple sounds it has heard, such as a person whispering, a baby crying, or an animal chittering. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful Wisdom (Insight) check, the DC for this check is equal to the Murmuring Mystics Spell DC.
  • Illusionary Nature: The Illusionary Bird gains Immunity to the following conditions: Blindness, Charmed, Deafness, Frightened, Grappled, Incapacitated, Paralyzed, Petrified, Poisoned, Petrified, Restrained, Stunned, Unconscious.
  • Morphic Form: When the familiar drops to O hit points, it disappears, leaving behind no physical form. It reappears after you cast the Find Familiar spell again but whenever the Murmuring Mystic casts an Illusion spell of 1st level or higher using a spell slot, they can change the appearance of their Illusionary Bird Familiar.
  • While your familiar is within 100 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. Additionally, as an action, you can see through your familiar's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any special senses that the familiar has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses.
  • As an action, you can temporarily dismiss your familiar, causing it to disappear in some small innocuous fashion such as a puff of smoke. As an action while it is temporarily dismissed, you can cause it to reappear in any unoccupied space within 30 feet of you.
  • Finally, when you cast a spell with a range of touch, your familiar can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell. Your familiar must be within 100 feet of you, and it must use its reaction to deliver the spell when you cast it. If the spell requires an attack roll, you use your attack modifier for the roll.

Actions:

The Illusionary Bird has only a vague physicality to it and cannot attack but it can take other actions such as Disengage, Dodge, Help etc.

Recollection of Memory

Beginning at 6th level, casting illusion spells comes so easily to you that it expends only a fraction of your spellcasting efforts. When you cast an Illusion spell of 2nd level or higher using a spell slot, you regain one expended spell slot. The slot you regain must be of a level lower than the spell you cast and can't be higher than 5th level.

Master of Illusions

When you reach 14th level you can choose 3 spells which are not from the Illusion school of magic and add them to your list of spells known, these do not take up one of your spells known, these are in addition to them.

Each of these bonus spells can can be no higher than 3rd level.

Illusion Mastery

Starting at 18th level, you have achieved such mastery over Illusion spells that you can cast them at will. Choose a 1st level Illusion spell and a 2nd level Illusion spell that you know. You can cast those spells at their lowest level without expending a spell slot. If you want to cast either spell at a higher level, you must expend a spell slot as normal. By spending 8 hours in study or by entering your Illusionary World trance for a long rest, you can exchange one or both of the spells you chose for different spells of the same levels. You can apply Meta Magic to these spells as normal.
