Base Class: Fighter
The Seer of Swords is a unique subclass of the Fighter, known for their uncanny ability to predict the flow of battle. These warriors have honed their martial prowess to a razor’s edge, but their true strength lies in their use of raw magic. They do not cast spells in the traditional sense; instead, they channel their innate magic to enhance their understanding and mastery of weapons.
Through their divination abilities, they can anticipate an enemy’s movements, guide their strikes with deadly precision, and react to attacks with supernatural speed. Their foresight allows them to see the path of blades before they strike, enabling them to parry attacks and protect themselves and their allies from harm.
Whether they’re standing on the front lines of a battlefield or facing down a deadly adversary in single combat, the Seer of Swords is always one step ahead. Their blade dances with a mind of its own, guided by the unseen hand of fate. To face a Seer of Swords in battle is to fight against the future itself.
Weapon Insight
At 3rd level, your deep understanding of weapons and their use in battle is almost supernatural. You gain proficiency in the History skill, and you can use it as a bonus action to recall information about a weapon you can see. This could be the history of the weapon, its make, or even its previous owners.
Guided Strike
Also at 3rd level, when you choose this archetype, you can channel your raw magic to guide your attacks. As a bonus action, you can add your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) to your next attack roll. This represents your ability to predict your enemy’s movements and adjust your attack accordingly.
At 10th level, you can add twice your Wisdom modifier, and at 17th level, you can add three times your Wisdom modifier.
Blade Precognition
At 7th level, your ability to predict the path of blades improves. When a creature you can see makes an attack against you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. This represents your ability to foresee the attack and move in a way that makes it harder for your enemy to hit you.
At 14th level, your precognition becomes even more refined. When you use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll, you can also add your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) to your AC against that attack.
At 20th level, your foresight reaches its peak. When you use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll, if the attack still hits, you can choose to make it a miss instead. Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before you can use it again.
Warrior’s Foresight
At 10th level, your foresight becomes even more potent. As a bonus action, you can give yourself advantage on all attack rolls with weapon attacks until the start of your next turn. Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. This represents your ability to predict your enemies’ movements and strike where they are most vulnerable. Starting at 15th level, you can use this feature twice between rests, and starting at 20th level, you can use it three times between rests.
Visionary Parry
At 15th level, your divination abilities can help you parry attacks. When you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by your fighter level + your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1). This represents your ability to foresee the attack and move your weapon to deflect some of the force.
Master of Blades
At 18th level, your ability to foresee the path of blades is unparalleled. When you make a weapon attack, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10. This represents your supreme mastery of weapons and your ability to ensure that your attacks always find their mark.
