Base Class: Ranger
In the untamed wilds, some Rangers forge bonds not only with the creatures of the forest but specifically with the cunning and loyal wolves. These Wolf Guardians are fierce protectors and skilled hunters, relying on their lupine companions to navigate the dangers of the wilderness.
Wolf Companion
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to bond with a wolf as your faithful companion. The wolf follows your commands and fights alongside you in battle. It has its own initiative, and you determine its actions, decisions, and characteristics. The wolf companion uses the statistics for a regular wolf (Monster Manual, page 341).
Additionally, your wolf companion gains the following benefits:
-
Pack Tactics: The wolf gains advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.
-
Keen Senses: The wolf gains advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Pack Bond
At 7th level, your bond with your wolf companion deepens. You and your wolf can communicate telepathically, allowing you to share basic emotions, images, and concepts with each other. Additionally, as a reaction, you can swap places with your wolf when it is subjected to an attack, spell, or other harmful effect. This ability can be used once per short or long rest.
Alpha's Authority
At 11th level, you learn to harness the pack mentality to inspire and lead your allies. You and friendly creatures within 30 feet of you gain advantage on saving throws against being frightened, and you have advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks when dealing with wolves, werewolves, or other lupine creatures.
Lycanthropic Resilience
At 15th level, your connection with your wolf companion grants you resilience akin to that of lycanthropes. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened, and you gain advantage on all checks to resist the effects of lycanthropy. Additionally, your wolf companion's attacks are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks. Additionally your companion evolves into a true sight of power instead of using the wolf stat-block for your companion you may use the winter wolf's stat block or the dire wolf's stat-block
