Base Class: Druid
Druids of the circle of Iron believe that metal is as much a part of nature as the forests, oceans and deserts. They see it as the element of versatility, with the ability to transform into nearly anything. They study the properties of metal and experiment with alloys to create new, unique substances. Although they are a smaller circle, they have a fierce devotion to their culture and magical traditions, learning to manifest their power through fire and steel instead of transforming into beasts like their sibling circles.
Druids of this circle are usually skilled smiths, metallurgists and warriors; utilizing magic and metal in equal measure. They also believe that fire is the sibling element of metal, as it allows metal to change and become greater. Their way of life is seen as odd, however, as other druids have a taboo against using metal within their circles. Iron druids ignore this and continue to honor their chosen element as a part of the natural world.
Circle Spells
3rd level Circle of Iron feature
Honoring metal as a part of the natural world grants you access to certain spells.
At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to the spells listed for that level in the Circle of Iron Spells table. Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.
Circle of Iron Spells

Metal Affinity
Your affinity for nature's numerous metals and devotion to tradition allows you to use metal in ways ordinary druids cannot. You gain the following benefits:
- You gain proficiency with Heavy Armor and wearing heavy armor doesn't reduce your speed if you do not meet its strength requirement.
- You gain proficiency with smith's tools and can use metal objects and weapons as a spellcasting focus for your druid spells.
- You can use the Shillelagh Cantrip on metal weapons and always have the spell prepared. Additionally, You can cause Shillelagh to deal Fire damage instead of Force damage. If the damage die of the weapon that shillelagh is cast on is higher than the damage die of shillelagh, then use the higher damage die.
Metallic Form
3rd level Circle of Iron feature
As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to take on a metallic form, rather than transforming into a beast.
While in your metallic form you retain your game statistics, but your body becomes magically encased in molten metal; your joints glow red hot and your limbs become covered in rigid metal. You choose how your metallic form appears. Most druids of the Circle of Iron manifest their metallic form as a full suit of molten armor, but there are some who choose to appear more bestial; sprouting red hot horns from their head and back or have their form take on a rough, scaly appearance. The form sheds bright light in a 10 foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. Your form lasts for 10 minutes, but It ends early if you dismiss it (no action required), are incapacitated, die, or use this feature again.
When you assume your metallic form, you choose which of the following metals you become magically encased in; gaining certain benefits from your choice while in the form.
Iron: You gain the versatility of Iron, granting you resistance to radiant, necrotic, poison and psychic damage.
Tungsten: You gain the durability of Tungsten, granting you resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, Slashing and Fire damage.
Platinum: You gain the resilience of Platinum, granting you resistance to force, cold, thunder and acid damage.
While you are in your metallic form, any creature in direct contact with you takes 1d6 Fire damage. This damage increases to 1d8 at 9th level and 1d10 at 15th level.
Convection
6th level Circle of Iron feature
You have learned to use the energy absorbed by your metallic form to regain some of your own power.
When you take damage from a damage type that your chosen metallic form grants resistance to, you can use your reaction to regain an expended spell slot with a level up to an amount equal to a quarter of your Druid level rounded up. You can use this feature twice, regaining both uses after you complete a long rest.
Alloyed form
10th level Circle of Iron feature
Your knowledge of metallurgy has taught you how to alloy metals with your metallic form. Whenever you assume your metallic form, choose which of the following metals to alloy with. Your choice grants you certain benefits in addition to your chosen metallic form:
Lithium: Alloying with lithium makes your metallic form highly reactive. Whenever you are hit by a melee attack, you deal 1d8 Fire damage back to the attacker. Your lithium alloy is volatile and reacts violently when disturbed. This damage increases to 1d10 at 14th level and 1d12 at 17th level.
Adamantine: Alloying with adamantine makes your metallic form incredibly sturdy. While you are in your metallic form you are immune to critical hits. Additionally, you gain 4 temporary hit points at the start of each of your turns.
Gold: Alloying with gold makes your metallic form incredibly malleable. While you are in your metallic form you have advantage on dexterity checks and saving throws. Additionally, your reach increases by 5 feet as your gold alloy deforms easily to stretch out.
RULE TIP: TEMPORARY HIT POINTS DON'T STACK
Living Crucible
14th level Circle of Iron feature
Your constant manipulation of metal has made you a living crucible, able to melt, shape and reforge it with ease. When you cast a levelled spell while in your metallic form, you can use a bonus action to assume a different metallic form, or alloy a different metal to your current metallic form.
