Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

The Vanguard is a tactical leader on the front lines. Capable of healing and motivating troops.

Level 3: Vanguard’s Mark

When the Vanguard applies their Hunter’s Mark on a target, they can select one ally that they can see or hear to share the benefits of the spell. The ally does not need to maintain concentration.

Level 3: Vanguard Spells

When you reach a Ranger level specified in the Vanguard Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Vanguard Spells
Ranger Level Spell
3 MessageHealing Word
5 Skywrite
9 Leomund's Tiny Hut
13 Hallucinatory Terrain
17 Rary's Telepathic Bond

Level 3: Directing Shout

Once per turn, the Vanguard can make a shout in place of a weapon attack. When you do so, select one ally that can see or hear you, they then may take their reaction to move half their movement speed without provoking attacks of opportunity. When an ally moves in this way, their next attack has advantage.

Level 7: Rallying Shout

The Vanguard can cast Healing Word without expending a spell slot a number of times per day equal to your Wisdom Modifier (minimum of once) and you regain all uses after completing a long rest. Additionally, when you cast Healing Word (whether through this feature or with a spell slot) the recipient gains the benefits of the Bless spell (See Player’s Handbook) until the beginning of your next turn, no concentration required.

Level 11: Strategist

You and all allies who can see or hear you add your Wisdom Modifier (minimum of +1) to initiative rolls.

Level 11: War Shout

The Vanguard can improve their Directing Shout to a War Shout. When an ally takes a reaction to move half their speed without provoking an attack of opportunity, they can also make one weapon attack with advantage as part of the same reaction.

You make this type of shout in place of an attack and can do so a number of times equal to your Wisdom Modifier (minimum of once) and regain all uses after completing a long rest.

Level 15: Greater Rallying Shout

You know the Mass Healing Word spell and can cast it without using a spell slot a number of times equal to your Wisdom Modifier. You regain the ability to cast it in this way when you complete a Long Rest.

Your Mass Healing Word benefits from the same improvements that your Healing Word does via Rallying Shout.

When you cast either Healing Word or Mass Healing Word, in addition to the Bless effect that lasts until the beginning of your next turn, the subjects of the spells also benefit from partial cover until the beginning of your next turn as well.
