Base Class: Monk
STAFF OF THE MONKEY KING
Starting at 3rd level, your skill with the quarterstaff is exemplary. When wielding a quarterstaff, you can treat it and its attacks as an unarmed strikes for the purposes of anything that reference unarmed strikes (such as for class features or feats, e.g., Flurry of Blows).
STANCES OF THE MONKEY KING
At 3rd level, your experience quarterstaffs has culminated into a Stance. Pick one of the Stances below to learn. You learn an additional Stance at 6th and 11th level.
Stances grant you a passive benefit and allow you to spend ki on a unique feature. You can only have one Stance active at a time, and you can change your active Stance to another Stance you know as part of the beginning of your turn. Whenever you spend a ki point on a Stance feature, you may use Flurry of Blows, Patient Defense, or Step of the Wind without spending a ki point during that turn.
STANCE OF THE PIERCING SKY (SPEAR)
Passive benefit: Your reach with quarterstaffs is increased by 5 feet.
Stance feature: Whenever you take the Attack action and attack with a quarterstaff, you can spend a ki point.
The first time this turn you hit a creature, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed up to 10 feet away from you.
STANCE OF THE CRUSHING MOUNTAIN (SMASH)
Passive benefit: Once on each of your turns when you hit a target with a quarterstaff attack, you can deal extra damage to the target equal to your Martial Arts die.
Stance feature: Whenever you take the Attack action and attack with a quarterstaff, you can spend a ki point.
The first time this turn you attack a creature, regardless of whether or not the attack hits, the target and each creature within a 5-foot-radius of them must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone.
STANCE OF THE WHIRLING WIND (PILLAR)
Passive benefit: Your movement speed is increased by 5 feet.
Stance feature: Whenever you take the Attack action and attack with a quarterstaff, you can spend a ki point.
You can make an additional attack as part of your Attack action at disadvantage, and every time you attack a creature this turn you may immediately move up to 5 feet without provoking attacks of opportunity.
TALENT OF THE MONKEY KING
Starting at 6th, your unique talent with quarterstaffs further improves your Stances' capabilities. All Stances' passive benefits are improved:
